Elvis is dead.

Gideon, I LOVE Elvis, but as far as a pure vocalist, Elvis wasn't in SP's league. As a performer, yes. And thank God for Elvis kicking down all the doors. Without him there wouldn't be rock and roll as we know it. But, although I love Elvis's emotional and quite good voice, prime SP is better in every category, technically.

And I love Elvis, but c'mon E, write a song. He wrote very few of his big songs and only got some co-writing credits because he was Elvis.

It's semantic in nature. You said "greatest." I want people to learn that there's actually a difference; as Ehwmatt testified on the Neal Schon thread, Jimi Hendrix may be the "greatest" guitarist of all time, but there are plenty of other guitarists who "buttfuck" him.

Perry's arguably the most talented, but it's hard to argue that one against Robert Plant or Freddie Mercury. Believe me, I've tried.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

Out of curiosity, why is madsplash considered the source to ask?

We have Lora and Cyndy and Andrew who seem to know much more than he does, and they are not telling us anything. Trust me if he was going to release an album they would be equally excited, equally eager to share.

Trust me, when Steve's FTLOSM first came out, we knew way in advance. We were waiting and looking for the album long before the release. Guess who was our source.............Fan Asylum.

No offense madsplash. But side info just don't cut it for me. You may be on the mark. But I will wait for people in the know to let me know. :D

The fact that Lora and Cyndy and Andrew are not telling us anything is because they have enough respect for Perry to let him control his own release
if and when he is going to do it. Loyalty to a friend is refreshing to see. :D

And usually it is such friends who are the most credible of sources, not taken in by speculation or rumor.

Perry should be the one to say when he wants people to know of a release. Not someone who has no respect for his privacy or feelings and would spill the beans so they can sound important to their buddies.

I agree, I respect loyalty and self control over lack of self control. 8)

Do you guys not listen to a word Andrew says? :) well just to clarify his opinion, and probably the only opinion around that actually holds any true weight on the subject. His word was "NO" (as in not happening).

Let's put an end to these stupid and frustrating rumors (that literally have been going on since 1998) every year there's a new member that starts trash rumors, and every year they are proven wrong, time and time again. When will people get the drift?, and you know it's extremely cruel, because once the "loons" get their hopes up, and only to find all their hopes are crushed, when the reality sinks in. You can't go around spreading shit, and expecting no repercussions. Once a loon gets a sniff in, they go always go in full Monty, it's all or nothing.

Steve Perry has retired - the end. And I am surprised people don't get banned here more often, as that should be automatic rule when people spread garbage rumors about, that hold as much weight as a feather.

The most sensible post I've ever read here. Kudos!
However, Randy Jackson did say that SP is working on stuff, whatever that means.

No worries mate, yeah I kind of went on a a bit of tangent there, sorry. But yeah, Randy did say that, and I guess because it's Randy, you would have to ask the question. Strange stuff going on that's for sure. See what happens.

So do I.

Would be great to hear from him again, even if it is just song releases.

Heck he could release them as singles and I would be a happy camper..........but I do think he should do the anouncing........not someones cats, fleas, ticks, best friend of a puppy twice jumped from a retreiver........only a few I would take it from as gospel.

They have earned my respect through the years. And apparently have Perry's as well.

Man, were you not here when Andrew CONFIRMED that SP has been working on new material? As for a release, he said he didn't know about any, but the fact that he CONFIRMED it(do a search) is enough to make it be more than past rumors.

And it's nice to know that YOU'VE been put in charge of deciding what is a rumor and what isn't, deciding that SP is retired when he's NEVER said that, and deciding who should be banned  for posting about SP on a Journey Forum.

And if I'm "proven wrong", I'll apologize and even leave here if asked. But who are you to try and make the rules? As far as I've ever known, that's just Andrew.

Interesting. It seems that you may of been offended by my remarks. Why is that I am wondering. Oh well, take it easy mate.

Well, all we know for sure is that a new realease is being worked on or is already done. The release date is the question and I've said November all along and have also said that I might be off a month or two because of Christmas or the New Year. But there will be new music soon.

Andrew, with all due respect, I just want to confirm the fact that you did confirm in an earlier post that SP is known to have been working on new music. Nothing more or less than that, but you did confirm that, isn't that correct? I'm too lazy to search and find that post, but I just want to confirm that with you.

Well, all we know for sure is that a new realease is being worked on or is already done. The release date is the question and I've said November all along and have also said that I might be off a month or two because of Christmas or the New Year. But there will be new music soon.

Must resist....mustn't be sarcastic...must....ah, bugger it....get off the wicked-weed dude!

So did Andrew. Search the posts for it.

I never said he was releasing any of it.

And I understand that you didn't say that, but you never said that he wasn't, did you? And I think many of us find it hard to believe that he would be working on new stuff and never plan to release any of it. Could you please elaborate any more?

I think your point is that, "What Isn't Being Said Can Speak Volumes." One of the things the silence could mean is that Perry is retired, doesn't pay attention to MR, websites, Myspace, internet chat rooms, and is actually out buying season tickets to the Dodgers games, tickets to the events happening in Del Mar in July, singing at private parties with his friends, walking on the beach, enjoying a cup of Joe from Starbucks, eating breakfast at happening cafe's near L.A., visiting friends at radio stations, co-producing his friend's kid's awesome new song, sitting on his couch with a bowl of popcorn watching a good DVD, waking up late, getting a hair cut (as thick and beautiful as his hair is and how fast it seems to grow, he must be spending a LOT of time doing this :D ). One of the other things the silence means is that only Perry knows the hour and the day that he will release his music to the public. So, even if his friends know that he has completed a new album, they don't know for sure exactly when he will release it, and they don't want to take away his thunder in doing so, by leaking information now. Kudos to all those friends who are not spilling the beans. When the beans are ready to be spilled it may actually cause the next 7.0 earthquake somewhere in the world, or all of our computers will melt, maybe hell will freeze over or Christ will return. Until then, let's give Perry all the space he needs no matter what he is doing or not doing. :D

madsplash wrote:Ever think someone who knows may gave been asked not to say anything? There were only a few people who knew about a lot of things for a certain time. But guess what? Eventually other people came along who ACTUALLY also knew things. It CAN happen.

I'm still just a fan saying what I've been told to be absolutely true. If the many that have contacted me and told me that they think I'm right believe my info is right, I think that's great. For those who want to believe I'm a complete liar and have made everything up, that's there choice also.

The only thing I'll be excited about when I'm right is that, as one of his biggest fans, we'll have new music from the greatest pop/rock vocalist of all time.
That's really all I care about, (although I will reserve the right to rub a few of the rudest, nastiest, most viciously attacking, self centered, negative puppies noses in it).

Thus proving what a twat you really are. It's been said so many times it should have sunk into your brain by now, but apparently not - pretty much everyone here would LOVE to hear Perry confirm he is releasing a new album BUT!!! we aren't going to pull out our party shows until HE says it, or those authorised to speak on his behalf. You could have the best info in the world, you could be so confident about it that you'd bet your children's life on it and not even blink, and that's fabulous, god give us all that kind of inside info. Problem is, to the rest of us, you are just text on a screen, and have all the credibility that implies. There have been hundreds of 'people' on-line saying the same thing for years, and so far, they have all been wrong. You may be the exception, (and I doubt there are many here who will be upset if you are,) but there is nothing that gives you any more credibility than the rest. So for those of us who wait in hope, we'll hold out for the official announcement before we get excited. Saying that is not being negative, it's being realistic.

As for rude, nasty, and vicious attacking - well, I rather think that is a result of your behaviour, a response to your own posts well laden with those qualities. And self centred? I'm sorry, but we aren't the ones who seem to be unable to comprehend what has been said perhaps one hundred times, with perfect clarity, because it isn't saying 'yes you are right.'

I've got a response to your 'WE'LL SEE'...

'WHEN PERRY SHOWS IT. NOT BEFORE.'
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Andrew, with all due respect, I just want to confirm the fact that you did confirm in an earlier post that SP is known to have been working on new music. Nothing more or less than that, but you did confirm that, isn't that correct? I'm too lazy to search and find that post, but I just want to confirm that with you.

That's no secret and has been going on for longer than you have been posting here. But yes....I did say that. But again, to clarify, I never said anything about releasing anything.
