There's lots of things in life that stress me out that I don't have much control over, but I can definitely control whether I get stressed out about rock bands and avatars, and I choose not to.

While wech is making some good points in regards to respect of other nations and salutations, I can see where some people get annoyed by Rip's avatar.

I personally have nothing against Arnel and I have wished him the best of luck many times since the day he joined Journey. I also was impressed with not only his singnig abilities but also from what Ive heard his humble personality. Arnel as a person or as a singer hasnt done anyone wrong. Even if he may not hit all the notes ALL the time (see if Perry can do it now, or anyone else for that matter),, even if he can not pronounce and dictate all the words, you have to be blind, deaf or living in denial if you think that he has failed in Journey.

The successful tour last year was a proof that he was the right man for the band. The (unnecessary) apology to the fans after SuperBowl, showed everyone that this guy is not only a great singer and a good person, but a human being.

While I may not be the biggest Journey fan (or the management of the band), I give credit where it's deserved and in Arnel's case he deserve a lot of credit for what he has accomplished. You can not aim your anger and frustration at this guy, if youre mad at the decisions Journey mangement has made.

Now with all that said, I also think that the avatar that Rip has put up could play as a bait to the so called haters .
At the same token that I think its disrespectful to post a "eat dog" post or pic or any crap like that, when you put a pic like Rips avatar it may come across as a bait and an invitation to a childish battle between Arnel Haters and Arnel Army.

I personally dont get offended by it one bit, its just a fucking picture. But in this case it speaks more than 1000 words, and while pride and respect maybe some of those words , I could also see words like bait, weird, geeky and obsessed....Back to wech's post,,sure its always a nice gesture to show other countries presidents or heros the respect their nation deserves, but in this case, Arnel isnt the President or a real hero. He is a singer of a band. There is a fine line between showing a frontman of a band the respect and salutation he deserves and obsession to extreme.

Should Andrew or T-Bone remove that avatar? No. Why should they ?? It doesnt have any obvious negative messages. Plus Rip has been known for his goofiness & fun with photoshop anyways so most people who know him dont judge him more than friends judge one another. If anyone should remove it , it should be Rip himself, but not because people attack him for it, but only if he thinks that the avatar has run it course and got its message out and its time to move on. By now I think everyone knows about his passion (mancrush) for Arnel

Gunbot has never been a hater. Ive always enjoyed his posts here and he is honest with his opinions and a lot of times I happen to agree with him. The last thing any of you want to do is try to include him in the haters group, cause he is not.

I happened to catch the AV change in real time. It was at some point when Rip, among others, was nastily slammed with unfounded flak. Considering the particulars then, his move struck me as a matter of course, and I was like...wow cool, way to goof around and razz that idjit lol.
