David Lee Roth out of Van Halen again? WTF???

Postby G.I.Jim » Thu Apr 02, 2009 3:19 am

I just don't get Eddie and his fucking issues! Just flipping through the channels this morning, stopped at MTV, and there it is "Van Halen part ways once again with founding singer David Lee Roth"! Just when I thought they were doing well, and that maybe we had a chance at hearing some new material. DAMMIT!!! I was also hoping to catch them live, as I've never seen them with Roth. Oh well...maybe they'll call Hagar back. What a joke!

I'm with you. I've never seen VH with DLR and was hoping they'd come a little closer to me next time around. Sheesh!

Probably an April Fools joke but at this point, nothing with EVH surprises me anymore.

Van Halen are no longer important enough to pull off an April Fool's Joke like this, therefore it must be legit....and stupid!

Well...interestingly enough:

April 1, 1985 – David Lee Roth leaves Van Halen to begin a solo career.

Perhaps this is what they were referencing. After all, the original poster didn't say whether they were reading a ticker on the bottom of the screen. There is no such news item anywhere on the Web, and say what you want about their importance or relevance these days, nothing escapes a Google News search....

I'd LOVE that too. But at this point, I think Sammy would be hesitant to want to go back to that mess.

Sammy rocks, though. Sings Roth under the table.

Yea, I would buy the cd and go see the tour then. But VH and EVH is washed up, at least for the past several years.

Good, fuck Roth. Hagar is much better in every respect. Hopefully, this will also put an end to "Chicken Shit" or whatever that shit band is called Hagar has assembled. That music sounded mundane and uninspired.

Is Eddie's son still playing bass for the band? I think they should also get Anthony back in the band, not only Sammy. I can live with either DLR or Sammy, though I favor Sammy more because I was old enough to really "live" my life as a young adult listening to Van Halen during the time he was singing in the band, lots of good memories associated with the band when Sammy was there. DLR was a little bit before my time, so I don't really have that connection to him with the band, though I did like a lot of the songs he had done in the past in the band. Van Halen Van Halen was fucking awesome, I just didn't own that album though until about ten years after it had come out. I picked it up at a used record store on vinyl, which I still have to this day.

 I actually like both. They both have awesome songs and history there. I'm not sure about the "Chicken Foot" project...I'll reserve judgement until I hear more. BTW...Is there a subliminal message in your signature?

Hey man,

Yeah...he's playing with them. While I think it must be very cool for someone his age...I think it's the most retarded move they've made. They need Mikey back!!!

No...I made it up!  Sorry, but I'm the wrong person to be around on April Fool's day. :D You should see what I did on my myspace page...I said I was giving up on music, and moving on with my life. I said I was going to pick up a new hobby...like golf. I've had some fun with it today, as I've had several messages from people saying "you're not really giving up are you???". If they just scroll down, I say that it's just a joke. DAMN I love this day.

I'm not big into DLR, but I bet you he could kick the holy hell out of Hagar in a fight. Isn't he like a black belt in Taikwondo or something?

He's sort of old and frail looking now, but in his hay day I'm sure it would have been a good fight. It's true, DLR was into martial arts. Right out of the wiki:

"He (David Lee Roth) spent much of his private time refining his martial arts skills and spinning kicks with martial arts Instructor Bob Smith also of Bloomington, Indiana after Smith had provided security for other 70's and early 80's Musicians."
