OT: Shots Fired on RU Campus.

Postby Rhiannon » Fri Apr 03, 2009 12:44 pm

Reports of a shooter on the loose at Radford University. This is a school way close to my life... I went there for a semester, I lived in an on-campus apartment on Fairfax for most of 2003 & 2004. A quiet chill school that is mostly known for great parties and fun people. So far no reports of victims or injured, apparently just some random punk-ass playing big man with his gun. I wish someone would find him and beat the everloving HELL out of him. Hasn't the New River Valley's Universities (VT) had enough already? :x

A friend updated his facebook status a moment ago and says the campus emailed all the students to stay inside about 30 mins ago. I think everyone's okay, but they've not found him yet.

So sorry Rhi! ASU has people who get into altercations and have guns in their dorms. Scary place to stay if you ask me. During the day it is fine, but the campus and local police stay on edge. Guns and drunks don't mix. Hope everyone will be O.K.

Ugh -- situations like that are so terrible.

I don't know if you guys saw it or not, but, I remember when WKU's campus had this same threat.

It turned out to be a hoax, but still...

I remember when kids had gun racks in their truck windows at school and no one ever thought twice about it. And there was NO problem. Now, what the hell has happened to us?

Seems human life holds less value these days. A great deal to a narscisistic society. Self rules. Rhi I wish I could take away your hurt. It seems personal when it happens close to you. I remember the Jonesboro school shootings. They were not my kids but in a way they were.........

Deac, you're right...
a4p, I hurt for the community... I mean, Radford's no shiny place... it can be rough in places... there were a series of car thefts and muggings in the Hunter's Ridge apartments back when I was living over there and that was a nice community of partying college kids. Just some ruffian outsiders busting up the fun. The people there at that school are great. Most of my high school went there since it's so close to home for us. I left (in fact) because it felt too much like 13th grade than college.

Still haven't caught him I don't think. Whole place is still on lock down. Sucks. Radford is also just a few miles away from VT... so you can imagine its a double whammy bringing back lots of concern.

The shooting was off campus. All is ok in our little New River Valley.

UPDATED: Radford University reopens after off-campus shooting
A Radford University spokesman sent out an e-mail this morning stating that the school will be returning to normal operations today. That after an off-campus shooting last night that resulted in the death of the victim.

That is definitely good news, bad that there was a shooting to begin with, but happy that it was away from campus. Must've been over on darkside somewhere.

Thanks for the update.
