They seem to be holding out for headlining gigs at large venues, but I'm just not convinced that a whole tour can be filled with those kind of dates in this economy. It seems to me that Journey is at that threshold where they aren't quite able to fill up the amphitheaters and arenas on their own just yet, but at the same time they don't want to settle for a bunch of casinos and small theaters.
I am excited about the tour though, and really looking forward to seeing them play outdoors at some of these packed state fairs.

From what I've heard, they didn't want to commit to a full blown tour because of the economy, and I guess they don't enjoy doing one-off dates either, so I'm doubtful they will play any shows this summer.

Bet your last dollars they will. Journey will absolutely tour. That's their only source of revenue. The clock is ticking- Schon will make them go out again, guaranteed. Count on it.

They'll hit festivals and fairs where there will already be a crowd. They'll make a few bucks and sell a few more albums. Then they'll start planning next year.
