Album discussion...Journey-"Journey"

Postby G.I.Jim » Sat Apr 04, 2009 11:05 am

Shit came out in 1975, and sounded like it was made by a bunch of people wearing tye-dyes, smoking some mary jane! Album sucks (IMHO) and sounds nothing like Journey that we know and love. Those that are OLD and into progressive tunes might dig it man! Next... :D

Kohoutek, Topaz, Mystery Mountain, Of A Lifetime, To Play Some Music... all killer. I love this album. I'm surprised you don't appreciate it more being a musician Jim. There's some great stuff going on there!

Nah...just not my kind of music. I was being a little sarcastic with my opinion, but it's just not my style. I do appreciate the musicianship on it. Gregg was a MONSTER on the organ, and I have some serious respect for him. I own this album (as well as every album they ever released), but I just bought it to fill the collection. I've only listened to it a couple of times. To me, Journey really didn't start until Infinity. That was one kick-ass album, and it's only gotten better from there!

I'll agree with you on all those songs. I love playing Kohoutek and Topaz -- definitely the best instrumentals the band has done IMO.

I really think the self-titled debut is far and away Journey's best album...

GREAT, sensational music... can't get enough of it.

That's pretty much what we were wearing and doing in 1975. I guess that makes me OLD    I do think it sucks though. There was a lot better stuff out there in '75 like: Fleetwood Mac, Born to Run-Springsteen, Toys in the Attic Aerosmith, & Wish You Were Here-Pink Floyd.

Whilst I dont spin that first album all that much, the song "Of a Lifetime" in my opinion is in the top 5 of Journeys greatest songs. pURE Briliance
