Hahahahaha.... No, nothing else. That's actually a passport wallet around my neck, not a tag. I was thinking I'd look goofy sporting one of those, but I noticed several people using them. I carried my passport, boarding passes, etc. in it and it made it a whole lot easier to keep them at hand.

So many people have complained about hearing the dirty dozen “yet again” (which I always thought was bizarre, because if that’s how you feel, who’s making you go anyway?) and you go see it in Manila. Manila! I’ve never even been there, but I don’t think even listening to Open Arms for the hundredth time could possibly sound exactly the same in a place like that!

A few years ago if somebody would have predicted Journey would be performing a concert in Manila with a Pilipino front man it would have sounded beyond ridiculous, but its true, and the band is absolutely smoking now, by the way. Judging from the youtubes I saw, that show was one of the most original and rocking shows Journey have done in a very long time, and you were there. That is so cool!

I also love your avatar. You know, I’d like to read your review of that show if you get around to it, but it’s clear that this experience was about a lot more than just a rock concert for you. I’m not one of those who believe that rock and roll can save the world, but if more people were getting out of it what you’re getting, then maybe it could. The way you went over there open to experience everything without preconception and without judging, and having a lot of fun and making new friends, I think you just might be on to something. Heck, if I won the publishers clearinghouse, I would go to as many shows as I could. What is wrong, if you have the funds and means to go? Shoot I wish I could go with him! You are more than kind, and I appreciate you. The show was very special, and yes they definitely breathed new life into a few of the "Dirty Dozen" classics. Even more incentive to see them on tour now or buy the DVD from Manila when it comes out! AP has worked very hard and definitely deserves credit for everything he's done. He's been a whole lot more to the band than just the "next singer".

Thanks, and the avatar makes me smile too. I'm proud of all my friends, no matter where they are. Maybe it bothers a few people, but it's not about exchanging old friends for new -- we are always in the process of making new friends, or at least we should be -- that's the way I choose to look at it. The important thing is that life beats us all up enough as it is without us having to be hateful to each other on top of it, and with the economy and the state of the world in general, we all need the mutual support with our friends more than ever.

Yes, the trip was much more than a concert for sure. A special concert I didn't want to miss, but not enough to go to that expense to travel to the other side of the planet. Learning to get outside of my world here has really opened up my eyes, and I hope to do a lot more of it in the future. I'm working on another trip out of the country for next year, and also a return to the Philippines as soon as I can.

Haha.... Hey, listen. I definitely don't have too much money, and I also have wayyyyy too much to do. I wish I had enough money that I didn't have to work as hard as I do for what I do have. That is a goal someday. I'm just learning to actually use my vacation time these days, because we have to take care of ourselves so we don't burn out. I just don't enjoy the misguided hatred by a few, I doubt that Journey, Arnel or even Rip Rokken is responsible for any of it. Some people just have problems with themselves.

About the official site(s), I think website owners (especially those with a commercial interests at stake) have every right to control the content of their sites. People are free to think or say whatever they feel, but the website owners aren't obligated to give them a place to bash them, ya know? That's not squelching freedom of speech at all -- that's just common sense, so people need to drop that argument. And I've said for a long time that people get way too worked up over issues of band business, which is really none of anyone else's business unless it involves us or people close to us, and at that point, it's really a personal concern and not a public one. Just my opinion. I love the band and love the music, and that's where I choose to draw the line.

You hit the nail on the head man -- it's only rock and roll (to us). And to them, it's business. There is a phrase somewhere that says something like "Don't ever meet your heroes." What they mean is that when we have the chance to really get to know someone you admire so much, we risk shattering illusions we have of them because they are just real people with real flaws, just like us. (Except for maybe Steve Augeri and JSS of course-- they actually are perfect). Seriously, when I go to a concert or listen to a CD, I want to enjoy a performer doing what he does best, instead of seeing what is behind the curtain. I just want to be entertained, that's all. I enjoy music because it takes me away from the problems I have to deal with every day, so the last thing I want to do is worry about their problems.

I'm really digging LSA, it rocks harder than what Asia and Journey put out on their last releases and might very well be on par with Good to be bad by WhiteSnake.

All my Dokken CDs are Japanese originals as that's where my fandom started. When LSA came out , is was only natural to go to Little Tokyo and get the import version.

Yep, yep and yep. He's not a bad travelling companion, either, kids. My frequent flier miles are at the ready for another big adventure....I think humitas will be next on the menu. If you decide you want to join me on the little jaunt that I've got cookin' now, just let me know. Who knows what trouble I'm going to get into when left to my own devices.
