The latest episode I'm able to get is about a guy who sleep walks and buys cocaine.

I have not missed ONE episode of the entire series (just like the West Wing)....I catch em online most weeks, but this one really got to me. The development of the characters has been dramatic as of late, and I am waiting for the other shoe to fall....13.

Hey Joe when are we going to hear more music from you?

Another opinion of mine: There is a constant complaint about a lack of character progression and I think that this episode has compensated for that in quite a large fashion.
Gideon wrote:This used to be one of my favorite shows (I remember getting hooked on it and Boston Legal right about the same time); not so much anymore. The problem is a lack of character progression. Every stark raving whackjob who froths at the mouth at the very mention of Hugh Laurie or Gregory House irk me. Where's the development?
Of course, Laurie does an incredible job with he character. The problem is that House, as a character, is getting so fucking boring. Repetitive and stale. The show has become so formula based, little startling revelations, and it follows the same plotline: House is a jerk, Cuddy and Wilson and his coworkers tolerate his asshole ways far beyond what would be tolerated in the real world (something this show could use a little bit more of), he finds a patient, makes him/her worse, continues to make him/her worse, brings patient to the brink of death, and in the middle of a conversation with another character, House miraculously resolves the case with his unrealistic understanding of the medical field. Randomly, throughout the episode, House will engage in some sort of morality play, with the writers doing their damn hardest to try to prove House's cynical, jaded, pessimistic perception of humanity with an occasional glimpse at hope.
It's retarded. Anyone who has seen the earliest episodes of House may recall a time when he was more interesting; managed to be a hardass and a human being at the same time. I recall in the second or third episode of season one where he showed up at a patient's soccer/lacrosse game and cheered for him.
It's hard to root or relate to someone (which is one of the essential ingredients to a protagonist) when he looks for every single available reason to be a complete fuckup. Earlier in this season, I thought that might have changed when he was confronted with the fact that he may lose his one and only friend in Wilson.
Wrong.
The second Wilson caved (predictably), House went back to his old ways and treated Wilson like shit.
In short, he learned nothing. There's no character development; he neither improves or degrades as a human. It's just constant banality. Laurie acts the part well, but the part itself is completely overrated.
You want a true kickass antihero? Look to my avatar. In short, House (the character and the show) is utterly and completely overrated.
