I'm not bored. I just found out some dude ripped tracks from a Journey metal tribute CD and posted them. It's got Toto, Tommy Shaw, Mickey Thomas and others singng Journey covers. If you feel like doing some music pirating, head on over to a certain Filipino singer's website and snoop around.

Having experience as a mod, Maybe you could enlighten them on copyright law, Steveo777?

Good, are they going to cut a deal with one of the big three (Target, Walmart, Best Buy)) or distribute on their own.

Deal...for sure. It's simply the way to go. Just a guess, though. Their offers are too hard to pass up. Haters won't admit it, but they're relevant as far as $$$ goes. Very relevant, especially when you consider touring revenues. They advertise for their sponsors for free. They'll have several labels because the release will span continents. They will move a MINIMUM of 500,000 units if they release anything.

Costco.
Their last album was "buy one, take/count two", right?

You know what??? I don't get the double-edged argument...they release one CD and they're greedy....they release a great deal and they're "cheaters." They gave their fans a great package...period. Whether or not it counts, it really doesn't matter...unless you're a fucking hater. Then it's a BIG deal. As a consumer, I felt I got my money's worth. :)

No argument on that last part, Dan.
Revelation was worth every peso I paid, even after (nope, especially after) I chucked the GH disc into the trash.
FTR, I don't hate Journey (I just hate the disc of re-dos), I was just referencing a past issue for humor.

Please dont make me do it! besides, I moderate a techie site and they have a natural propensity for having their undewear up in their ass cracks. this site gives me relief from those engineer bastards and their rehtoric. I seriously wonder when the last time any one of them got laid.

and, if, Journey is so irrelevant, as some shit heads around here would have you to believe, why is anyone creating tributes to their fucking music?????

I was gonna do it, but you beat me to it.

Hell, I'll bet SP can't wait for Journey to put out new stuff or go on tour. He can use HIS share of the proceeds to promote HIS new material.

Steve Perry no longer gets a share of anything NEW Journey does or concert proceeds.....but OF COURSE he still collects residuals from the songs he wrote/co-wrote. Steve Perry did however "get paid like a motherfucker" from 1998-2008. This would probably explain why he's finally working on some new material..... :P

Well, I'm not sure I believe he's COMPLETELY done getting paid for anything new, you'd have to show me some sort of proof, or at least say how you know that for sure.

He didn't NEED the proceeds he got from them from 1998-2008. They would pale in comparison to what he's made before that. 75 million records sold compared to 500,000. But it's the fact that he got that deal that is fitting. He didn't quit the band, they wanted to "move on".

The fuck have you been smoking?
The guy left his bandmates with their dicks in the wind,
and no real indication when/if he was going to come back,
and somehow THAT's not "quitting" to you?

You know I thought that was the arrangement when I responded on a thread the other day. I was pretty sure of it. However, I couldn't find the source. Do you know where that was published?

So if someone needs to peronally get away from something, should they just stay no matter what it does to them physically or menatally.

And in 96, no he didn't quit. He needed time to decide when he wanted to have MAJOR surgery. That's not a democratic situation. They couldn't wait? Fuck em'. Move on and pay him. That's what happened.

They waited for almost 2 years for him to merely decide if he was going to have the surgery. His touring and recording since then leads anyone with functioning cells in their cranium no choice but to believe that he was simply playing games...again.

You're right, he didn't quit in '96. He quit after cutting the ROR tour short, with no contact with the guys for ten years, while working on his solo work, the shelved album and FTLOSM, until the push by Sony to reunite with Journey. He left Journey long b/f '96. B/c of Sony we got Trial By Fire, which was a gift, but then it was over for Steve as evidenced by no new music or touring for twelve years.

I'm politely discussing the dastardly acts of a guy that I think sabotaged Journey for the better part of a decade and suppressed their ability to talk about it because he had cleverly wrestled away majority/substantial control. Why does it bother you that I'm talking about it?

Oh look! A shiny thing!!

Nope, guess it's going to take more than that to stop this topic being rehashed again
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Well, Ari, it's either this or that warmed over centuries old feud going on over on the "Perry's Back in the Studio" thread. Take your pick of the least worse topics.

True. Or the 'who's a bigger bastard, Perry or Schon?' or 'who was more responsible for their success, Perry, Cain or Schon?' debates.

Roll on the concert season when people will have something else to talk about!

Let's remember that a lot of that came after Perry left the band and that Steve Augeri put in a ton of road time with the band and kept the music alive for future generations. His hard work with the band should not be so easily dismissed. They're hard working guys that have kept the music in the listener's ear long after Mr. Perry decided to hang up the mic. Call it what you want, but they're still a touring force, and Perry is not as missed as you would like make it sound. The fact that they played to many 20,000+ crowds last year makes that all but irrefutable. Journey simply continues to play the majority of songs that 60% of the current lineup was partly/mostly responsible for. Perry has been asked/begged to return, but he seemingly has no interest in doing something the majority of fans would greatly like to see him do. He either doesn't care or can't do it. You decide.

you used the word "dastardly" nice work! you know me, i'm one of those positive people and think it is harmful to your psyche to be negative. i don't know, nor do you know the ins and outs of journey's business. sure we've heard neal say many things during those drunken hours in bars... many things i'll never repeat here. just be happy journey continues to rock you and let the past go, especially since all of them have questionable actions, fraud, etc in the not too distant past.
