Man, is it just me, or has this place started feeling like a deserted ghost town? I miss a lot of the old crowd (Deano, Moonie, etc...). Now Andrew doesn't even hang out with us anymore!  Hope you're all doing okay, and you're sorely missed.

I think what is happening is this forum has lost it's focus. It's not about music as it is about anything anybody wants to post about. And unfortunately there's much better sites for news, gossip, etc. This forum should stay strong to it's roots and be filled with discussions of timely subjects about all things in the melodic rock world, not about bs like alot of the topics being posted.

I mean it's really cool at first to see this wide variety of user posted news, titbits, etc, but sometimes you just want to talk music and well...there's alot of noise to go through to get to those posts.

Hey there G.I.Jim, I'm still around, just not as chatty.
I'm sure Andrew is just busy and Dean'o, think I saw him exchanging slapshots in a hockey thread around here.

You bring up a good point. I think this board goes through changes like the tides though, when there's nothing new or exciting to talk about with Journey. I'm sure it'll pick up again, but it just seems a little weird in here lately. Miss the old crew (for better or for worse!) Hopefully Journey will get their butts back in the studio soon and give us something to talk about.

I also really miss Toto already...they need to get over their differences, and get as many of the remaining original members back together to do one last hoorah! Don't see it happening though.

You might get the same response you got when you hammered on this in January, 2008:

texafana wrote:Just bumping this idea again. Now in the Journey forum there's a bunch of off topic threads, probably more off topic info than Journey info. And all perhaps because Journey is the first forum. ;) If you had the general forum on top, I bet all of the misc topics would be posted there leaving the Journey forum to be about....Journey. The other artist's forums don't suffer near as much misc posts. Perhaps you could give it a try and see if it helps clean the Journey area up a bit? (Just re-arraging the order of the forums so the general section is at top. I think you call it "Open Artist Forum"? And it's on bottom.) ;)

Same old same old. This is the cycle of a message board. Its like this on any board I've read. The "usual suspects" come and go, some return, some don't, some bitch about it, some don't care... whatever. but it's not the board that has lost anything, its the people who make up the board. Whether they have lost interest, lost the time they once had to participate... this really is nothing new. I mean right down to the same exact posts from the same people about *this*. Its business as usual, really.

Simple solution, change the name of the forum back to Engelbert Humperdinck. When the band releases another top 10 album, then we can change it back. Sound good to everybody?

No, not at all sir. Just pointing out the logical answer.
Message board cycles are cycling as per usual.

I miss Andrew's retorts as well. I feel if people are not posting it is because news is slow on Journey. And as for keeping it to music only, well, they are not active at this time are they?

But people here like to post things they find funny, current in the news, etc. Just keeping in touch while things are slow. I enjoy the funny threads that GI and Tragchick come up with. Makes the slow periods not so bad to endure.

It is a bit much to expect everything on a forum board to go just as each of us wishes. We all have differing tastes and oppinions. There are some topics I don't care for, so I just don't respond to them.

I think this site is fine just as it is.

If people are not here because of XYZ maybe they will return when things on the band pick up, or their lives slow down enough to post. Sometimes people are just busy living. :D

Right. Things slow down at times... just happens. Instead of everyone going away and not participating, we talk about other things. Its no big deal. There's more to life than Journey.

But if we're going to get complaints about things going off-topic, then that's juuuuust fiiiine.

It's the natural ebb and flow of any community. Some of us don't have time, some don't take time, some don't want to, and some are all talked out for now.

Don't see this happening any time soon. I've suggested many new bands.....no takers though. People like to stay in musical ruts. Same ole, same ole....

There is more going on in the melodic world than Journey....believe me.

The great thing with Jack is you can xerox a bazillion copies of the latest coupons and they'll accept them. Every one in our office (what's left) walks over there at least once a day to get their free tacos or discounted Sourdoughs. The hearty breakfast bowl is my favorite at the moment.
And they serve it all day long.

Crunchy goodness! But the fries were awful.
Phoenix area JITB has excellent fries. North Carolina JITB has gross fries.
I didn't enjoy the McDs or BK fries down south either.

My conclusion is that southerners mess up fries.
