::LOON ALERT::

Well, since you asked  ...he doesn't necessarily need to "tour". I like the set-up Carlos Santana has in Vegas. SMFP could take up temporary residence in Las Vegas, find an intimate little venue, and do 2-3 shows per week. Done. If the mountain will not come to the Loons, the Loons will surely go to the mountain.

There you go - Perry can take Carlos on tour as his lead guitarist!

Who needs Schon anymore?

How about the biggest concert of the decade (They could call the tour (CRACK THIS STONE). Journey pairs with none other than Steve Perry as Perry opens the show with his own band and plays pretty much his solo stuff, 80 percent of his brand new release. Then, after Perry's gig, Neil and the boys take center stage and you can guess where i go from here. Perry and Journey have already went through their sets of choosen songs in practice so Perry and Journey know what their doing as Perry comes onstage for 3, or 4 songs or as lead. Perry could then team with AP and or sing front with AP as Journey is backing vocals for notes or the song itself. Then, AP and Perry could pick 2 songs where they team up together.

Perry should give a portion of his earnings to Steve Augeri for helping to keep the back catalog moving all those years.

A few guest appearances on talk shows, and a TV Special should be enough to promote the music from his long hoped for album. Bands have got to hate touring these days especially after the thrill of it all is over. He does not need to tour. The internet can do all the promoting for him.

Steve Perry will not come out with new music, therefore he won't be touring, ever again.

I have a bigger belief that he would come back as a Dragon. Him coming back as a dragon falls under the same hope and belief of him coming back and singing. So, I will now re-work my thoughts and correct myself of saying... YES, Steve Perry will be back, but in Dragon form.

Crossing my fingers.

I would think less of him if he gave Journey the time of day to even hint at their relevance by appearing with them. He's no doubt a man of his word and when he told Jon, "There's no going back," he apparently meant it.

In this day and age , it's no longer about the album as barely anybody is selling mega platinum albums. The key is to have that big single that can be downloaded on itunes. Less and less people are buying full albums. Do a duet with the right person and you could be cruising down easy street. It's not about making ten good songs anymore, it's have that one great tune that everyone will download.

If Perry really wants to make a quick buck with out touring, do a duet with David Cook. They'll have that shit all over Entertainment Tonight and those types of programs and he won't have to tour for shit, just let people get it off of itunes and watch the money roll in.

Memo to Journey. Use itunes next album launch. More young people will notice you on Apple's front page than the circular at Walmart.
Get on itunes and you don't have to settle on being stuck on the A/C charts, you can get back on the Hot 100 like the good old days.

IMO, Perry voice on Journey's hits has kept the back catalog moving all these past years. Augeri owes Perry and has already paid him for the use of the hits while touring. Like HH said about them being his Ho's and all,

I don't think so. Journey moved three million+ albums from 2001 to 2006. If the band wasn't touring, that doesn't happen.

A TV special? I don't see that happening for Steve Perry without Journey at 60.

If it were to happen, it would be on Idol since they seem to prefer to use solo artists as mentors. Randy Jackson would be sitting there with a shit eating grin all week.

Paul McCartney still tours and he's way past 60.

But I guess Steve and Paul have their differences....

If it were to happen, it would be on Idol since they seem to prefer to use ancient solo artists as mentors. Randy Jackson would be sitting there with a shit eating grin all week.

Right ... Who would have thought Barry Manilow ... Smokey Robinson ... et al ... are still relevant?

Smokin Steve

Postby cheekymonkey » Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:10 am

It is my dream that after he releases the album that Steve would do a special, a HBO kinda thing, and maybe do a dvd release or a pay per view. It would also be cool if he did some smaller venues, more intimate feel. It would be crazy to go back into the big tour/multi dates. It would be putting the work back into something he clearly loves to do. As much as I love the Journey songs, I would be very content to just listen to his work. Yes, I am a Spoon and damn proud!!!!

Umm... Barry and Smokey have been and are still performing. Thus the relevance. Just sayin. :)
