Now, she's on CBS Evening News. Unbelievable. They went to her hometown and interviewed her and people in her town. The CBS morning show will be interviewing her tomorrow morning.

This is so awesome. You gotta love it. Sort of like Arnie's Cindearella story last year on TV. I hope she get's all the mileage she can out of it because it won't last long. There's always a new human interest story right around the corner so grab the ring while you can.

Agreed Nora... that was pure control... just glorious to listen to. I loved watching the expressions on the hosts and the audience when they realized she wasn't a twit, but a real talent. Surrrrrrprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I caught this on Good Morning America this morning...they made a big deal out of it. She does have a lovely voice but does anyone think that this is so popular because of the way she looked & not expecting her to have talent? I don't get that. Why the audience & judges seemed to have her all judged before she opened her mouth. Good for her to not let anything get in the way of her dream, not even age.

She looks like shit, but damn she can sing,im routing for her, good story line, she could win on that ,and she will cause she is a good singer, i still wouldnt kiss her though. It reminds me when me and the ex went to the poconos, there was this couple going at it all night, This girl moaned all night long, drove me crazy.i pictured her as the hottest girl ever.We got up the next day, she came out of her cabin {barely} to head to breakfast, she must have weighed 350 pounds.I felt so embarrest. My fantasy was ruined. You cant go be what you see or hear all the time.I am happy for her though Look at faga, he aint much to look at either

yep,

1. she's not attractive or at least doesn't seem to make an effort
2. she's almost 50 and NOW she's trying to make it? (simon asks her)
3. bad first impression and then she tops it by making jokes

if it weren't for the voice and good song choice, they'd have booed her in 5 seconds

Everyone loves an underdog/Cinderella story. You rarely see these shows (which are meant to find talent in the common folk) do what they set out to. Sex sells and its no wonder our own American Idol has age restrictions. Show me middle-aged people on AI, show me a true cross-section of the population. Then we'll call it a talent search. There are many talented people in small towns and villages across the world, a fraction of a fraction will only ever see something made of it. I'm glad this woman got her opportunity. That took guts.

Exactly, this chick will have fans that like her purely for the sound of her voice. Look at Paul Potts, the guy looked like a fucking wreck. Now he has a number one album in over a dozen countries because he was given the opportunity based on his talent, not his looks. Think that would fly here in the States on a show like A.I., not a chance. A lot of people are getting joy out of listening to Pott's album. It would have never happened in the states though, his ass wouldn't get past the first round.

I'd like to submit Milli Vanilli as Example A. And that chick, Martha Wash, behind the voice on C+C Music Factory that they made the other chick lipsynch to in the video as Example B.

Hello, all! Still being creative and working a 9 to 5, who isn't, right? Hey Miss Rhiannon and Miss Trag chick! Is it Nora?

I remember Martha Washington - my Auntie used to babysit Isora, the other Two Tons of Fun chick!

Well, I too teared when I heard the woman and I just saw her this morning on t.v, good for her. But, what gets me is her confidence. They stated she was developmentally challenged, but she acts like "Hey I am the shit!" which I think is so FIERCE! Why should she cower? And I loved when she blew a kiss like, TAKE THAT BITCHES!!!! :D (well, that is what I wanted her to think when she blew the kiss)

Thank you, Miss Pretty! Oh, my god I sound like the wicked witch of the West! Oh well. Anyway, I think my reason for citing the woman's attitude is that most of us may have great talents and beauty, but can be very insecure for whatever reason. I have my insecurites, so it always boggles my mind when people appear secure within themselves, it really does have a postive effect. Secure, mind you, not arrogant or narcissistic.

:?

And deservedly so. The fact is, however, she DID have the voice and she DID make a good song choice - many don't. It's the ultimate underdog story. She came into the place with the three strikes against her that you have listed above, and then some. When she took the stage she was greeted with heavy sighs, eye-rolling and snickering from the judges and audience alike. Nevertheless, girlfriend took the stage and just went to WORK. She basically served the judges and audience to their faces. She stopped all the nonsense from the first note. And when she was done, there was nothing anyone could do. She could not be denied. It really was a "take that BITCHES!" kind of moment. Aaah, so refreshing...

Rather shallow, aren't you?

Yes, she is a lady...no doubt about it. With her personality ...her pleasantness, gentleness, graciousness, quite strength....her modesty, her manners....no other way to define her except to call her a lady.
From what I've seen of her, she radiates from within, so she is in fact a beautiful lady....with the voice of an angel.

Your comment can be viewed as ugliness in you.
I haven't seen you but you gotta watch that kind of thing because no matter what you look like on the outside , if your personality is ugly...ugly enough to degrade others... you will be viewed that way.

Looks like it's not gonna happen. I was just watching an interview with Amanda Holden (one of the judges) and she does not want to change anything on Susan Boyle's appearance. Then again, she and Piers are Simon's bitches so they are gonna do whatever Simon says.

They are right..let her be herself because the lesson is there to not judge a book by it's cover. If she wants her eyebrows natural, then she can keep them that way....she should not have to conform to others standards to "fit in" more. I like this woman as she is, just being herself...she's awesome! :)

Sure she's great just as she wants to be. But there's nothing at all wrong with taking a little pride in your appearance. Hygiene and maintenance is not conformity. You wouldn't go to court in a nightgown and greasy-hair would you? She's free to do as she pleases, I was just pointing out that with a little refinement, she wouldn't be the frump that people saw her as. :)
