Bet if Herbie had gotten a cut himself he wouldn't be bitching about it. :?

Could have been that was never in the contract because he never imagined they would try to do that or what? Just justs seems like something a band would die if a former singer died or something or really not even at that? Can not even imagine what the thinking was there?

I don't know what Perry's contract stated either, but whatever it was, it was a thing of beauty. Whoever was/is representing Perry should be commended. Whoever was representing the rest of the band, on the other hand, should be sued for negligence or some sort of breach of fiduciary duties. It's standard procedure for Perry to get residuals, but for these guys to sign a contract agreeing to pay SMFP as if he were still a member of the band long after he's gone? How the hell do you get that deal? As far as I'm concerned the band has no right to complain now. For whatever reason, they agreed to this deal. They signed the contract, now they have to live with it. Is it unfair? Probably. But hey, that's the nature of pimpin'. So, to that end, they need to just go on out there, shake that money maker, and make sure Pimpin'-ass SMFP gets all his money. Not some. Not half. ALL of his money.

What's really funny is that if Neal had done that, people would be crying and pouting and hurling threats. Double standards galore; funny to see people cast aside their sense of ethics and morality so long as someone they "like" (a term I use loosely, since none of us really know any of them) is on the receiving end of the benefits.

Well said!

Thank God for Augeri...He put in his time and provided enough to the point where he has his die hards, fansites, etc.....Hell, I know some people that came back to Journey or became a new fan BECAUSE of Augeri.

JSS helped save a tour, and brought a different style to the band which some loved, some did not.. (I did)

Arnel....He's got a successful cd and tour with them with more to come.

If someone has a hard on for a old Porsche that sits in a garage ,and wants to polish it, and sit in it remembering the old days, have at it....Cobwebs and cats all around it....

I'll follow the Ford truck around that has put in the miles, and has entertained people pretty much every year since 1998.....

I have no problem to putting in my Infinity cd and playing it while on my way to a (current) Journey concert.

Sorry kids, life isn't fair, the good guy doesn't always win in the end, business is business... yadda yadda yadda :o Maybe Neal should have hired better lawyers.

Or if you're a loon, the good guy does win in the end, all movies have a happy ending and justice has been served 8)

I totally understand the copyright & publishing thing. No one can begrudge the man that. My understanding from reading the interview with HH is SMFP is/was still getting paid a full share as if he were still on the road performing with the band, thus Neal's comment that he was "getting paid like a motherfucker when he shouldn't be". Correct me if I'm wrong. :?

+ infinty

If you're happy, that's all that matters. When it comes to Journey, I like polishing up the Porsche but to each his own right? I used my ford truck for Moody Blues last week, I'll use a Toyota hybrid for Celtic Woman this week and back to the Ford for Boz Scaggs at the end of the month. Still got plenty of shows to go to even if I don't feel like going to a particular one. Heart at the OC fair, Aerosmith, ZZTop, Def Leppard and Poison all at the Verizon in Irvine this summer. Lot's of good stuff to see.

Yea that is one hell of a deal. Cheers to Perry and his lawyer!! I wouldn't doing all that crazy touring if I was getting paid as if i was either but again, how do you get that great of a deal but at the same time AP is aloud to rerecord the dirty dozen?

Also I do not know where I read it but I think that as of this year, SMFP is not paid as one of the band members anymore. That I think was for 10 years which expired this year which I guess is the reason Arnel gets a full split as of this year.

 :?

Hmm. Gravy train coming to an end...rumors (old and tired though they may be) of work on a new album - complete with revitalized vocal cords...hmm. You've got my loon senses tingling. Any loon worth his/her salt can put 2 and 2 together, and of course get 22. :D
