Feeling a little deja vu here... Hehe. Come on Paul ! Give us the goods. You know we are behind you guys 100%. Glad to hear that the ball is still rolling. Is Jason enjoying his return to the mic ?

I have to agree with Paul. Jason is the top dog and not only with Journey material I would bet. The guy is just plain talented and gifted period. Looking very forward to hearing him again.

Here I stand, so Patiently......

It is not quite time to disclose all. We do have a couple of Escape shows coming up - one in Akron this Friday and one on May 15th at Sly Fox. After that date, there will be an announcement forthcoming about the future of the project. One that I think you will be pleased with.

So, to quote Forrest Gump, "And that's all I have to say about that....."

Yes, hopefully not. You guys had a blast, though! It won't be my birthday this time, so maybe we won't drink quite so much! 8)

If you guys had a real reason to go there I could get you a gig. Seriously. You would spend more than you made though. How is Jason adjusting to things ? I know he was out of the picture for a long time and had many hesitations about singing secular music.

I really think you guys should consider a couple of original tunes if you get the time.

He has adjusted quite well. The opportunity to sing "other stuff" in Eclipse has helped round his voice back into shape (not that it needed it - lol). We have a lot of fun with that gig, but bar bands are a dime a dozen, and a lot of people don't notice much difference between good, average, and sucky. There is another Journey tribute here in NE Ohio that qualifies as the latter, and right now they get the gigs because we aren't "out there" yet. But we will be.

I was with Ehwmatt, Journey/Survivor and a few others and had the pleasure of seeing Jason Kelty sing with Eclipse. They did a handful of Journey songs and, although the sound dude was pretty poor, Jason sounded great. Low in the mix, but great. I went up to the front of the stage and got close enough to actually "hear" him sing (his actual voice and not what was coming through the house feed really low in the mix) and the guy has an incredible voice. I can only guess that doing more shows has rounded his voice into even better shape and I'm looking forward to seeing him/them again. When are we going, Ehwmatt?

PS The guy in this clip is no fucking Jason Kelty. Trust me when I say that. Jason has every bit of range that Perry had, but with a little less power.

I was hoping! My offer to put you guys up still stands. We are actually off that Saturday. I am about 30 minutes from the venue, though, so it depends on your drivability. LOL

Man I might have to make this one. My vehicles are scary though and I dont trust them on long drives. I really plan to make it so a show soon. About Jason's range... I heard him do ad-libs back in the day the would have had Perry's eyes wide open. Were talking Sweet and Simple (Its what I like to do) high. Not that it is all about hitting high notes but how you use them and when. Jason has that "thing" and when he would ad-lib it was just the right thing in the right place at the right time and that is called natural musicality.

I still would love to hear you guys try some originals. Paul ? You guys ever consider writing anything ? You never know what might happen. You guys are all veterans, you have a singer that is really one in a million and whats the worst that could happen ? If it sounds like Journey or any of your other influences so what ? Jason has that Perry twang and he cant help that however that is exactly what would make you guys stand out as an original act. Think aboot it.

LD, we are WAY past our prime. I was in an original Christian metal band, Catalyst (think Stryper meets Bon Jovi) back in the late 80's, but you have to know when to give it up. LOL

Eclipse,

I've heard both live and agree with you. Kelty is a whaling bastard that can (or could) carry it without a bunch of effects on the vocals. It's been a while since I've seen Jason, but the dude could ROCK a few years back.

L8r,

Aaron

Obviously, you can't go wrong with either of them. However, I am always leery of someone until I hear them live. That's where it matters.....

I finally watched this guy's clip. Not bad. Some spots he sounds darn close. But some spots I don't think he sounds like SMFP at all. Maybe a better band would help, but I was focused on him, not the rest of what was going on.
