I personally wanted to see JSS go forward with them, huge fan of his voice, have been for a long time before he joined Journey, and absolutely loved all the shows we saw with him fronting. I won't lie, I enjoyed seeing JSS fronting the most (yeah how's that you AP "cheerleader" accusers?  ) and I think both JSS and Journey fans have missed out on some pure magic now that there will never be a JSS fronted Journey album. That pisses me off  LOL, but oh well, what can you do?

Now I just consider us as fans lucky the band is even still around, and we will go to shows with friends, have a good time together as always 8) and enjoy the live music with Arnel for however long that lasts, until some of the other member's candles cost more than their cakes.

Never saw them with Augeri, but I was not paying attention to concerts at that time and didn't even know Journey had done anything with him past "Remember Me" (which I love). Stupid me, lol. I do think he is a great singer now that I've had the chance to discover those Journey albums with him. "Kiss Me Softly" is my favorite.

Never saw them with Perry either, but I did see Perry on the FTLOSM tour in '94, and yes, it was heaven :D lol.

Pretty much agree with you here. The only time I've ever seen Journey live was back in 82 when they came here on the Escape tour! Great show! Would love to have seen JSS fronted Journey, but thank gawd for the 3 or 4 different boots taken. If an Arnel fronted Journey played here, I'd go see them, but wouldn't travel to do so, those concert $$ are earmarked for possible JSS and/or EM/Mr Big shows. :) Can't knock Journey though, after all, they DID bring me two of my all-time favorite vocalists......actually in around about way, all three.......since Herbie managed EMB/Mr Big too. :D

Yep Deb! I'm so thankful for those boots too! 8)

Never seen them with Perry. Saw them with Arnel last August fourth row center thank's to Saint John and his friends. :D Arnel put on a great show. Someone here made a comment about Arnel's lower register being nothing special. This girl thinks his lower register is fine and dandy.

Saw them 8 times with Arnel last year. In total, right around 30 times with Augeri, 3 times with Soto and I was lucky enough to catch 3 Perry solo shows on the FTLOSM tour.

Perry isn't the original on all the songs. Wheel In The Sky and Winds Of March, just to name two, are proof of that.

Dude, you trying to diminish Perry's importance to the band is hilarious!!!
You reference these songs which are two of the most amazing vocals he ever recorded. No one will ever come close to those.

I'm not trying to "diminish" anything, dipshit. When someone posts "Only the original for me" then it's necessary to point out the gaping flaw in their argument. You pointing out that those "are two of the most amazing vocals he ever recorded" only strengthens my argument and shows how seriously flawed the person's "Only the original for me" argument that I responded to really is! Thanks for helping me prove my point, though!

How is pointing out that Perry wasn't the original vocalist on certain songs an attempt to diminish his importance to the band?

He's attacking the [incredibly stupid] argument that because Perry is the "original" (and he wasn't), he is somehow better than Arnel. No, an argument for him being better than Arnel is... well... the fact that he was better than Arnel. Not because he was in the band first.

That's like saying George Washington will always be the greatest and most skilled president because he was number one.

Thank you sir.

Realistically, Perry was rather superhuman. Though I am a firm believer that he was easily as much of an ass as Neal or Jon and that he is nowhere close to being as good as Arnel is now, his first years with the band were... what? Seven month tours per year (right)? And if you compare his vocals on each of the three pre-Cain albums, he sounds identical. So he held up a great deal and shouldered a lot of vocal and physical stress.

That's one more time than me, Deb - never seen 'em live  . I don't know what the hell I was doing in '82 - I wasn't really a big fan until Frontiers anyway. I'd go see them with Arnel in Calgary or Vancouver, but I doubt that's ever going to happen.

How about the original Coke vs the new Coke. (you prolly won't remember that, Gideon). It's likely that people didn't like the new formula simply because they found nothing wrong with the original. It wasn't that the new Coke was inferior, it just wasn't the 'real thing'... :)

Once with Perry, about 40+ times with Augeri, twice with JSS and once (I think) with Arnel.

Don't really care for Arnel. Won't be seeing them again.

This reminds me of one of my neighbors. The guy has two 60's model pieces of shit cars (Newport and Coronet) in his driveway that shit oils and fluids all over the ground and more then half the time don't run and he's out wrenching on them fixing them. They are both four door vehicles with no numbers matching so there isn't anything special about them. When he does get one running, the fumes gag everyone who comes in contact with them. All he would need to do is dump these shitbag cars and get one nice one. But some people refuse to accept change no matter what.

My God, seems like every time a new perryfan comes in with a positive post, the 2 usual suspects have to come running in to shoot it down. Reminds me of the old BT days (SP is in the past, give the kudos to the new singer/lineup ).

"Stupid Argument?" Portland is stating his/her thoughts ... not arguing. Must all posts be subject to debates?!? LMAO
