No, she played Maude - the show was a spinoff from All in the Family. I loved The Golden Girls and have several seasons on DVD. It was a classic comedy and I wish someone would create another great show like this. I'm really sad to hear Bea Arthur has passed away.

Okay, she played Edith's liberal cousin Maude on an two episodes of All in the Family, the first being in Dec 1971. She then starred in the Spinoff show Maude first airing in 1972.
And then Maude's maid "Florida" was spun off into the series "Good Times".![]()
