And didn't you hear Chuck Norris wants to run for President of Texas, should that happen? Not a joke, either.

Ooops; fixed it; thanks

Just think of all the new Chuck Norris jokes ... :D

   There are so many classics! Here are a few of my favorites...

1. Chuck Norris's tears contain the cure for cancer......too bad he's never cried.

2. If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you. If you can't see Chuck Norris you may be only seconds away from death.

3. When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.

4. Chuck Norris has already been to Mars; that's why there are no signs of life there.

5. There is no chin behind Chuck Norris' beard. There is only another fist.

6. Chuck Norris is currently suing NBC, claiming Law and Order are trademarked names for his left and right legs.

7. Crop circles are Chuck Norris' way of telling the world that sometimes corn needs to lie the fuck down.

8. When observing a Chuck Norris roundhouse kick in slow motion, one finds that Chuck Norris actually rapes his victim in the ass, smokes a cigarette with Dennis Leary, and then roundhouse kicks them in the face.

9. Rudolph has a red nose because he got lippy and Chuck Norris roundhouse kicked him across the face several times

10. If you have five dollars and Chuck Norris has five dollars, Chuck Norris has more money than you.

Fact Finder wrote:SAN ANTONIO -- The Texas Department of State Health Services on Sunday announced that all 14 schools and district facilities in the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District will be closed effective immediately after several more flu-like illnesses have been discovered in the department's ongoing swine flu investigation.

The closure will be in effect for at least a week.

The announcement comes one day after health officials announced the closure of Steele High School, where two students contracted the disease and a third case was pending.

All extracurricular activities also were cancelled.

I was in Austin last week and caught some bug while I was there. I feel achey, have fever, and my tonsils feel like Atomic Fireballs. How in the world do they think they can contain this when most people don't go to the doctor for the flu? And if you do go to the doctor you expose everyone in the waiting room and working there. I don't they they can do much in the way of controlling this outbreak.
Nyquil rules though.

Fair Oaks, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) – Health officials are investigating a suspected swine flu case at a Fair Oaks elementary school in California, health officials told BNO News on Sunday evening.

"Essentially it's a possible case, a teenage student at a Fair Oaks school," Kerry Shearer said, who is a spokesman for the Sacramento County Division of Public Health. The teenager, who is a student at St. Mel's School, had recently came in contact with several people who visited Mexico and became ill.

"The student was tested and it was of an influenza type that could not be sub typed," Shearer said. The samples have now been sent to the CDC to confirm or rule out swine flu. The CDC is expected to receive the samples on Monday morning but it can take several days before the results are known.

Because of the suspected case, a county health officer recommended that the school should be closed until there are no new cases of respiratory illness. About 275 students attend the school and none of them have so far reported illness, the principal of the school has agreed with to close the school. Health officials will monitor the students for the next days.

Shearer said the school will likely not reopen before Thursday. He could not provide details on the teenager to protect his or her identity.

"The symptoms were mild and that's what we've seen in the U.S. so far, just mild symptoms unlike in Mexico where it has been more serious," the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, WTOL-TV reports that officials are investigating a person with swine flu symptoms in Wood County, Ohio.

Yep, last couple of weeks have been spring break, so far every single instance I've seen of this flu, the victim had been to Mexico. They flew back home and now we have flu in 5 States, Canada, Nova Scotia, Austrailia, N.Z., Spain, France and possibly Isreal. The question is, how many aboard those flights caught it from a fellow traveller and are spreading it to family members back home?

When did Nova Scotia separate from Canada??? Must've missed that  .

Glad the Aussies are alright
the aussie gov't is ruthless
they won't even let you take in seeds, plants or fruit.
If you have been to a farm they fumigate you.
My father no longer volunteers that info.\
Last time I was in Australia it was 2003 & Sars was hitting China.

I'm not shaking anymore hands thats for sure
It gives me the creeps all the things you can catch by casual contact.

We have to carefully consider getting close to a stranger these days when a sneeze can kill you.
Look at how close we are to people in a concert or even at the supermarket.

You have one kid in school & you are almost doomed by all the pathogens they are exposed to daily...

I hope everyone here & there loved ones stay safe from this latest nasty bug.

I guess we';ll have to learn to make surgical masks the new fashion statement...

http://www.etaiwannews.com/etn/news_con ... s_Features

http://www.cdc.gov/features/masksrespirators/

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090424/ap_ ... _swine_flu

There flyin out of ebay with prices almost double.
Luckily I have a box of 3M 1870's that I use for the garden, cleaning & Ca fires...

http://www.masksnmore.com/3m18hecapare1.html
Seems to be best sight for the most resonable cost...

1870 are the most used in surgery as they fit the most faces & a mask has to fit right or it is useless.

I got a bird so I hope he has given me antibodies
as for little piggys...its just bacon n me

I'm sorry but these masks are false protection
they are not stopping anything as the virus can easily enter the gaps in the loose sides.
Guess its better tnan nothing but the masks worn on an 8 hr a day manner are just not going to protect anyone.
Suppose its better than nothing...barely

New South Wales state in Australia have reported 5 people are under going testing now, not sure what the results are as they are pending, but there is minor fears and panic here as well. At this point I am confident we will be fine here, but it is wise to keep an eye out and be careful.

Well surprisingly I've only gotten 2 calls this a.m. with questions about it. Have to love how the media freaks everyone out though. Nevermind the 226,000 people who get seasonal influenza every year, of which 36,000 die, way more than this swine flu so far (which is still a from of influenza A for the rest of you medical folks like me here, it's H1N1).

Bottom line like with every other virus out there, stay home if you're sick and wash your hands frequently no matter what. Never ceases to amaze me people will STILL drop their kids off at school or daycare while sick. Keep them home. And don't go to work sick, or any other public place sick, stay home. It's really a no-brainer.

And also never ceases to amaze me how many people don't bother to wash their hands. My hands are aging faster than I am with how much I wash them with my job, and just all the time even away from work. And it's just disgusting whenever I'm in a public bathroom (which I try to avoid at all costs) to see the amount of women who never bother to wash their hands. Or they do the run-my-little-high-dollar-manicured-fingertips-under-the-water and that's it  so gross and does nothing. I just don't get what so many people have against washing their damn hands! :x

Oh and just FYI if it wasn't mentioned here yet, you can't get it from eating properly handled and properly cooked pork.

I have a question about this, and maybe being a medical professional, you can answer it... I hate touching things other people have touched because of this exact reason - you do not know what people have (colds, flus, infections, etc) or what their habits are... (shopping carts freak me right out!) so I never ever go anywhere without Purell or at least some kind of antibacterial wipes, or things like that, because obviously we can't all race to a bathroom every 10 minutes.

My question is, do these products actually work or am I wasting time and fooling myself into thinking that I'm fine with those things until a sink is available?

I don't care about the reports that anti-bacterial soap is doing more harm than good...yeah right, with so many people not bothering to wash their hands I just don't buy that. pee is a good temporary disintectant. If you are out of antibacterial soap or worried about germs. Give it a good blast. :D

Yeah it's been used as an antiseptic. The PH of normal (without infection or disease) urine is neutral at about 7. It's easier for men to "blast" things with it than women though
