RESPECT WHEN POSTING

Andrew's request seems pretty straightforward and reasonable to me - he isn't making a significant change to his site, only informing us that there are some basic rules of conduct we are expected to follow when posting: show other people simple respect and stop hurling personal attacks and insults about the band members and each other. The key word is personal - for example, saying 'Never Walk Away' sucks tuned down half a step is not personal. We are all sharp enough to understand intent - there is a difference between joking or disagreeing with someone and belittling them. If all someone has to comment on are Neal's divorces or Steve Perry's nose, they really aren't adding much to the forum anyway.

Many here criticize Journey for playing the same tunes night after night, but the same old personal attacks on here are worse. At least Journey gives the fans what they want to hear. Some of the hostility lately has been turning people off of the site. If you don't respect the members of the band that is your business, but we have to remember that MR is Andrew's business and how he earns his living. If you don't want to 'tune it down" for the band, fine - do it for Andrew.

There are some pretty smart and funny people around here and I'm looking forward to seeing the new routines they come up with - take it as a challenge!

Knock this place all you want, but I think it's nice to not have to conform to the hardline rules that other forums have. Rock and roll is over the top and rebellious by nature, and there is not room for too many rules. We love Journey but we won't conform to rules that force you to praise them or be silenced, and that's why many of us come here to get away from that controlling shit. The guys in Journey are not infallible gods, but rather, they are imperfect humans just like you and I. But Andrew has the right to tell us to chill on the gay Friga jokes and alimony jokes because it's his forum. Maybe if we are real nice to him he will let Stevew slide with a bi-curious Friga joke now and then?

I shrugged them off as best I could, but after four years of hearing the same joke on average twice a week, my tolerance really wore thin. Having the same joke told twenty different ways every day, it stopped being funny a long time ago. Good. What Andrew doesn't and never has understood frankly, is that there is a balance that makes this place run well. Lately, the balance is way the fuck out of whack, with too many ogres and cheesedicks like Robbie G and that new fag steveo.
