I wish they'd schedule some dates in places where more than 12 people actually live...

Ditto. I wonder why the dates are only trickling in here and there too :? . I remember before they were all up at once, made it easier to plan, lol.

I think since they can't have three shows in a row, it makes for a little bit of logistic problems. Before they just went and didn't worry about when they played. One possible positive from not doing three shows in a row is that the down tuning that's going on shouldn't have to continue.

They are playing some big venues by themselves, it looks like, maybe to make up for the limited shows?

I don't think that the trickling has something to do with down tuning, probably more to do with economy and other gigs being cancelled due to low ticket sales - playing big venues by themselves is a big risk.

I was talking more about the stipulation in their singer's contract that says he can't perform three shows in a row and how that has to be taken into account when they are scheduling shows.

Yeah I guess that would make it tough to come up with a bunch of dates at once like before, if they can't have 3 in a row. I've just wondered since reading here several times that there would be a "summer tour", why it doesn't really look like that, at least compared to the last few years, I'm used to 2006, 2007, and last year when there were bunches of dates at once, lol.

Well in 2006 and 2008 they were part of a package tour, so booking a bunch of arenas in a short time was no problem.

Out on their own it's a different story. Journey hasn't booked a full arena/amphitheatre tour on their own since 1986, and that is essentially what is being attempted this year. Granted they are playing several state fairs and festivals, but they are aiming very high overall, which is a good thing.

Journey could book themselves at 50 small theaters or casinos virtually overnight, but that's not the goal.

They were on their own for the 30th anniversary tour in 2005, which was extensive; sold out 18,000 seats at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion in Houston.

I was just looking on Journey's website and they are performing at least nine 7,000 seat plus arenas/amplitheaters this summer on their own. Hopefully they will get a good turn out and reception from ticket sales.

Who said they are performing on their own? Heart will be with them for at least 15 shows this summer as posted by Heart's management....that's how they will sell tickets.

First, on the dates Journey is playing the large venues Heart is playing somewhere else. Also when checking the venue websites, for most of the larger arenas it just lists the act as "Journey" no special guest or anything. It looks like the majority of the shows Heart is performing with Journey are at fairs.

Unless they do a 'three-in-a-row' this date will have to count for Utahns too.

Really? Do you mind sharing the link where they said that? Is that a recent addition to his contract?

The first time, it was mentioned by the promotor for the Hawaii shows who added an extra date right after two already scheduled shows and had to change it because of the contract stipulation.
After that Arnel verified it himself that the stipulation was part of his restructured contract, the same time he talked about them stepping down on the songs ( E to Eb and so forth).

Thanks for staying on top of it, jrny84. I updated the schedule on the first page. Does anyone know long this tour is supposed to last? They have 27 dates now, but there's very little room to give with the no "three-in-a-row" deal.

I thought October. Maybe they're going to schedule the Florida shows then as they don't want their singer in a cold weather environment when Fall starts.

It would be SO nice to have them in Florida in the fall for once!! Summer concerts in Florida are awful, yet all the bands tour here in August, the worst month! If it's indoors, it doesn't matter, but many of them are outdoor venues!
