I knew as soon as I heard Phaneuf wasn't in tonight, it wasn't going to be good. Bad enough with Regehr being out. :(

Now that's funny. I'd have to find me some boobage to fill that though.

Credit to the Flames for waking up in the 3rd, though. That was freakin' wild.

. . . But congrats to the Hawks! That was a great series (well, except for game 5) and now that it's over, I will say I think the Hawks are a fabulous young team with a lot of class. And now my wish, should they meet the Canucks in the next round (and it's looking that way), is that they beat the snot out of them and maybe even go all the way.

(Crap, now I have to change my av and sig again  )

You should repost this thread, now that all the morons who voted San Jose are gone.

Uno Up wasn't exactly on fire was he? Saying the Ducks didn't belong, yet beat a 1 seed, and saying Montreal would give Boston all they could handle. The biggest problem Boston had was making their flight on time, and that was a charter.

Give me 2 GOOD reasons on why he is over-rated and I'll buy you a beer, or 10.

The Philly fans sure don't think he's overrated, they chanted his name all series long, and was more concerned about him rather than what their team was doing on the ice. Next year on opening day, they should hand out Syndney Crosby jersey's because they sure do like him. Crosby broke open every game they've won in the series, and is as dynamic as you get. Calling a player like Crosby over rated is both ignorant or drunk  As far as saying he isn't the best player on his team, well.. isn't that a great problem to have between him or Malkin. Personally, my favorite player is Malkin because I love his style of play and he's a complete work hoarse, but Crosby gives you an element of ability that only so few can duplicate. With that said, we have 2 Captains on my the team, and I'm privileged to watch 2/3 of the best players in hockey.

When I used the term "overrated" I meant in terms of the company many have put him in. After just 2 years people were comparing him to Lemieux and Gretzky and, as good as he is, he's simply not anywhere near as good as they were. At least not yet. Is the guy a top 5 player in the league? Sure. But he's no Gretzky or Lemieux. Personally, I don't think he ever will be, either. So yes, in terms of the company some have lumped him in, he's overrated.

Just to put things into perspective for you. Crosby has played 4 full seasons and has yet to score 40 or more goals in a season. Gretzky did it in his first year (43). Crosby's best season so far was 120 points. Gretzky, in his fourth season, had 120 assists. Oh yeah...and 92 goals. Lemieux scored at least 40 in his first 6 seasons and also scored 69 twice, 70 once and had a career best of 85. Crosby has a long way to go to even be close to as good as those guys were. That was my point.

If you would watch a full Penguin season, you would easily make the assumption that Crosby is more of a PURE PASSER than he is a scorer. The plays that this guy creates is simply along the lines of spectacular. The vision and play making ability that he has is so far more superior than any other in the league, and not only is he consistent, but he proves it in every game he plays. Just because he doesn't score 90 a season doesn't mean he doesn't do other things the greats could not.

I agree that he has ways to go to be lumped in the same category as Lemieux or Gretzky, and I believe ALL THREE have/had their own style. When comparing ANYONE this early in their career to players like Mario or Wayne, it SHOULD be over-rated in comparison, but if Syd plays like the way he does throughout his career.. than he will EASILY break the barrier between those two and become a great in his own right. He has his own style with some flashes of a Lemieux and Gretzky. Also, the Pens play their schemes on speed plays, and they have play-makers all over the ice in that category. This takes the pressure off of Syd of him NOT trying to score 50-60 a year. If it came to it, I bet he could, and will start putting in more pucks if need be. But he can only play in the league that's in front of him today, and to call him over-rated in today's hockey is everywhere near missing the mark.

Dan, Crosby isn't overrated, he is a stud, but I see where you're going. Crosby is the face of the league. He has carried the league for the last few years. Ovechkin is definitely more explosive, but like YJF mentioned, Crosby is a passer first, shooter second. I have seen him score when he needed to. He has Malkin to pass to, and others who can score. Ovie has Semin, but I do agree that Ovie brings fans out of their seats to be sure, just look at the Highlight goals.

As for the best player in the league, I would say Brodeur, but I changed my mind in the last 35 mins  . perhaps Luongo is the league's best player, IDK.

You can have Crosby and TO wannabe Ovechkin. Give me Datsyuk who'll pick your pocket, take you into the boards or score. Zetterburg's was right there shutting Crosby down also.
Pissed me off right after the Wings handed the Pens their lunch, NHL Network uses footage from the same series promoting the Penguins.
