Without Journey, does Steve Perry matter? Not sure, but HH didn't come calling on THEM to make HIM famous. He came calling on HIM to make THEM famous.

Every show THEY do is a tribute to HIM. Deal with it. Ask Arnel and see what he says.

One thing I do truely respect about Arnel is that he does recognize and has made reference to SP and the fact that there will only be one SP in this world. Fortunately, Arnel is above all the petty crap that goes around. He knows he is no SP and he isn't trying to be him. He only wants to help retain the sound Journey is famous for, while at the same time bringing his own unique style and voice, which is clearly embraced by the fans as you listen to their reactions when he comes on the stage. Listening to Arnel lately, it's become clear to me that he is shedding SP's shadow fast, singing in his own unique register. He does write music and has for his previous albums. We will see what he contributes to Journey shortly....if Friga will have it.

Steve Augeri said when you write with Neal and Jon, you have to bring your A-Game or don't even bother. Does Arnel have an A-game? You're right, we'll find out.

Not bothered about the broken english - just the fact that people cannot at least give him the props for being the voice that made those songs what they are. Arnel is good, but his fans must realise that without Perry, Arnel would probably still be slugging it out in the bars, even tho he is talented.

Anyway, i'm biased too - i can still remember the first time i heard Perry sing and i tell you - it stopped me in my tracks, and, sometimes it still does.

Yup I know exactly what you you mean. First time I heard Perry's voice I had to find out who the heck that guy was, I had never heard such a strong voice with had that kind of range!

You got my point - its the fact they don't even understand that without Steve Perry, AP would not have the songs he is singing. They act as though he was just a singer and should be treated a such......and I know they don't get it, but man it's a hard thing to sit and watch.

For every negative quote about Perry on youtube - there is at least 20 talking about what an incredible talent that voice was.....

Perry should start his own band and do cover songs from the Zoo. They could open for Journey, wouldn't that be a hot ticket: :( :P

Keep in mind this is the Philippines. Those people live on islands and frankly, this is a big deal to them...a rabid fan big deal. He's become a huge, larger than life figure to them and I doubt that many of them realize what the legacy is all about. Hell, many, even though they knew the songs Open Arms and Faithfully, really didn't know where they orginated, since so many have been singing it Karaoke and listening to cover bands for years. I don't fault them for that, but I can hope that they will now do some research, before disrespecting the history and the past lead singers of the band. Arnel should make a statement, but I'm not so sure he sees what is going on...on this side this side of the fence. (USA)

More bux to Journey and none to Sony. Yes, that's a good thing for the band. The downfall is in not marketing thru Itunes. Had they done that, I believe Revelation would have been wildly more successful.

Actually Sony has made money indirecty off the Journey machine lately as Journey's Greatest Hits went platinum again during the Revelation tour, and DSB making what has become an annual jump up the Itunes chart, this time after the Superbowl.

GAWD! Is that not the greenest of all evergreens? That thing never ever goes away. I wonder how much Journey is making off that one song alone.

I do have to say, I get sick of hearing it sometimes.....I know it is the song that they are identified with, but there are sooooo many others that make them great!
