Has anyone else noticed...Foreigner's only new release since Lou's departure was called "It's too Late", and the last song on Lou's new album is called "It's Not Too Late". Think there's a story there, or is it just coincidence? Conspiracy?

Okay - so I've had alot of mixed feelings about Lou Gramm for the last year or so because quite frankly, I was shocked at how his health, appearance, and voice had deteriorated since his illness. On one hand, I admired his courage to get back out there and perform, but on the other hand, the videos I saw on YouTube from 2007 through mid 2008 were so horrible it was painful to watch. It was truly sad to see him as a mere shadow of his former self and I wondered if he should have just hung it up and not tainted the memory of how great he used to be.
But, after checking out some his most recent videos on YouTube, he has improved greatly. He is on key for the most part, his meter is a thousand times better, and he is really starting to sound like himself again. Granted, the songs are detuned and he moves the melodies around to accomodate his range, but it's quite listenable and it shows tremendous improvement and hopefully is indicative of improved health as well. On top of that, he seems to have gone through a spiritual awakening as a result of his illness and has the guts to go out and sing about his beliefs.
So after thinking about it a bit, I really think that Lou should be applauded for not giving up. It takes alot of guts to do what he has done, and so far it seems to be working. I'm glad that he has followed his heart and ignored the naysayers, (myself included) and has showed the heart and determination to keep fighting back the illness that almost killed him. This guy should be an inspiration to us all. So what if he isn't pitch perfect? So what if he has gained alot of weight from the steroids he had to take? At the rate he's going, those things aren't going to be factors for long anyway.

God Bless ya Lou!! Keep up the good work. I for one thank him for the countless great songs and performances of his past, and for the inspiration he provides now.

Well said. How hard it must've been to get on stage AND sing after all those setbacks. Gramm is a survivor and inspiration.

Amen, brotha...

Always been a diehard Lou Gramm fan. I rate his voice up there in my top five favs of all times. A hell of a songwriter too. Kudos to him for keepin' the faith, and keeping it going, working it out, and doing what he was put here to do. Rock on, Lou 8)

If the place is indeed in Charlotte...that's only about an hour and 20 minutes from my house! I'll definitely be there. I'll have to look this place up though, and see how far it is. If I go, I'll take notes, and definitely give you guys a detailed review.

Rip Rokken wrote:Excellent stuff, and reminds me of classic Foreigner! His voice sounds fantastic on these recordings, and I was surprised at the high notes on "Heartache". I'll be buying this as soon as it hits. "If I Don't Have You" is my favorite, and there is a great haunting quality with the vocals.

I see he's playing in Houston, TX on June 20th. I think some of our Texas peeps should cover the event. :)

thx rip. I"m all over that. I am flying to Florida out of Houston on the 21st. totally do-able. DOKK?? KTD?? MICH??

I LOVE Lou's new stuff. Steve @ARfm played Baptized by Fire today and has played it at almost every show the last couple of weeks.

Well, I've checked it out...I'm definitely going! I'm going to call ticket master tomorrow to see if I can get any better seating before I purchase the tickets. I can't believe I'm going to spend this much for Lou Gramm (tickets I saw were $45 per ticket, plus about $10 in service charges!), but I better take advantage of this opportunity to see him. He is a great guy, and I'm really looking forward to buying the new cd! I can't wait. :D

Well, I just bought 2 tickets to the show. I got 3rd row, just right of the center stage! I can't wait. I'll report back with a detailed review of the show. I can't wait to get my hands on that cd!!! The show starts at 7:30, and because of the content of the cd, I doubt there will be any alcohol or beer vendors there. I think it'll be a little different than the concerts I've been to. I'm just anxious to see what kind of a set-list they play! Let me know if anyone else is going, and we can have a little get-together. :D

Good for Lou. ALWAYS been one of my all time faves, and a SUPER CLASSY guy too.
Sounds like classic Lou/Foreigner to me, but I'm sure as Andrew said, that they Pro Tooled the hell out of his voice, based on what I've heard in a love setting.
Rock on, Lou and best of luck with the new record!!

Second that- Lou's always been my #2 behind SP. Best of luck Lou.

Great post in the Foreigner thread.

Thanks Jad!

Just checked Amazon, and yep yep here it is. (a buck cheaper too).

http://www.amazon.com/Lou-Gramm-Band/dp ... 643&sr=8-5

Track 1 and 5 are cool. #9 reminscent of Shadow King era Gramm. Rockin' little tune.
