LOL, thanks for the laugh. You bet it's a flaw. Movement? What movement? A heartbeat away from non existence? LOL, you conservatives keep praying.

The anti-American 'right' are intentionally damaging the economy.

Some substantiation of that would be really nice unless you're not being serious.

I'm totally serious, are you? What are the 'right' doing that isn't hurting the economy?

What ARE they doing that *IS*?

You're a fair guy; I've seen you post before. Because of that, you know that its your responsibility to substantiate your claims with specific examples.

Certainly. And here it is. Corporate America. Look it up.

And I'll bolster this with an educated observation. I hired on with a major American organization in 1983. At that time, the upper management of that organization were making 10X that of the bottom worker. Not too bad huh? Now it's 400X. I know that doesn't sound like an economical melt down, but, if you put that equation to every company in America, it most certainly does. And that is a definite reality today. And they're shameless.

Two flaws:

a) You label the right with that then simply use "corporate America." That doesn't work unless you can correlate it, irrefutably, with the rest of the conservative movement.

b) You label the entirety of corporate America with that; and with that, you don't satisfy the question. I asked for specific examples and you didn't provide them.

Where? You asked me for what? Must have missed a post.

I hope you're not being that cynical, that obtuse as to think that he is simply labeling you as management.

It was an open argument. If you didn't want interjection, you would hold the argument in your PM chat.

Now, either open your eyes from the blinders that are your apparent rage or step back from the keyboard -- it's your choice.

No, Rick, I'm basing my statement upon this:

And this:

Rick wrote:Who the fuck was talking to you? Beat it child.

Rage happened to be a synonym; a rather strong synonym, but it is one nevertheless.

Either way, you're deflecting from the main argument, in which you must make another choice: Provide a specific example or concede.

My argument when I inserted myself into this thread was that Corporate America, and the "right" are to blame for the mess that the economy is in. If I didn't word it that way initially, then now you have clarification.

You want citations? Ok, here's one. "YOU'D HAVE TO BE STUPID NOT TO SEE IT"

How's that? :D

Was the interjection that you provided the statement that "the right" is to blame? I'm pretty sure that it was, but if I'm wrong, correct me.

There was nothing about Corporate America in that statement that I saw.

Again, correct me if I'm wrong.

Garbage article.
Like the Right defending torture on this forum, Krauthammer doesn't mention that we court martialed our own soldiers for waterboarding Vietcong OR that Reagan's Justice Department prosecuted a US sheriff for using the tactic.
If the Right wants to go down that dark path to hell, change the law.
It's that simple.
Pretty sad you guys can't talk about this stuff without 1) supporting illegality or 2) engaging in Jack Bauer ticking clock TV show secenarios.
As far as Pelosi's involvement...impeach her too.

What the fuck are you doing, TNC? Impeach Frisco Nancy? Hell, even advocating it on this Board? You are now exempt from partisan attack, or at least I would like to think so. Smacking "your own" in this case a left of center politician, is going to confuse the living Hell out the Cons here.

Tax cuts led to prosperity? You mean a quickie, a sudden and short orgasm when the Bush folk sent us out a few bucks in the form of a "tax rebate?" That check bought me a tank of gas and paid a cell phone bill. LOL, that tax rebate, in all it's glory, is a simple sample of that dreaded word: Socialism, is it not? Seriously, artificially propping up or assisting a Capitalism market is well, Social Help, or Socialism. By the way, that short quickie cum and go help didn't do anything but harm the economy in the long run. The difference between the Obama help and the Bush help(tax rebate check), is Bush's didn't go far enough, and wasn't enough. IMHO, I don't think Obama's Assistance plan is large enough either. Recently China infused it's ailing economy with a stimulus package, that was about 20% of it's GDP. I believe Obama's is more near 10%. China's definitely worked. We'll see on Obama's.

Fact Finder wrote:I'm all for making waterboarding (to save innocent life only) legal.

Wonderful.
Until the day you’re sworn in as President, it’s still illegal.
Obama can either appoint a special prosecutor, or go ahead and pardon the sons of bitches in advance.
Fact Finder wrote:If two thugs abducted my wife or daughters and one thug was in custody and we had a deadline or death would occur, I'd waterboard that SOB faster than you can pull another big word out of your hat. You would argue that for moral reasons that waterboarding shouldn't be used on said thug to save my wife or daughter. I would argue that saving a life or 2 or even 1000's superceeds the 30 to 45 seconds of terror that waterboarding brings about, after which the thug is still in fine health.

I’ve never argued on the basis of morality.
That’s what you’re doing.
I’ve consistently argued on the basis of the US criminal code.
Fact Finder wrote:Anyone that thinks that a fake drowning event, after which you are fine is worse than death, which is permanent and leaves other lives changed forever is the one morally challenged, or might I say balls challenged.

False comparison.
Fact Finder wrote:I'm not talking about the bamboo under the nails, breaking arms(ala McCain), or other barbaric actions. Simple mental torture of a sufficient nature to swiftly and simply gather intelligence without leaving scars is fine by me to save my family and friends and most importantly innocent victims who through no fault of their own might have found themselves in a wrong place wrong time scenario.

You have no idea what you’re arguing.
Throughout history, waterboarding has been held in the same lowly esteem as the acts you just listed above.
You're splitting hairs.
Also, given that CIA doctors were on hand to administer emergency tracheotomies, I wouldn't exactly call waterboarding "scar free."
Fact Finder wrote:One other thing, when you go home tonight, be sure to gather your loved ones around the table and let them know that in the event they find themselves in a perilous situation, that for moral, feel good reasons you would not be able to dunk a fellow human in water simply to save their lives. They might appreciate knowing that info in advance.

Once again, the only group arguing from a “moral” “feel good” legally opaque basis is you guys.
The law’s the law.

I actually meant going back to the early 80's. I feel Bush's tax rebate worked in the summer of '01, but failed miserably in the spring of '08. I hope Obama's works, but I fear if it does it will be short-term and hurt us long term.

You are fucking delusional as all Hell. I luv ya you big ol gun toting cocksucker, but Satan? He left along with president Bush last January.

  I've given up. I've come to a conclusion about politics...I have my own set of fundamentals and beliefs, and so do the rest of you. I believe in working hard for my paycheck, and always have. I don't believe that when I EARN money, that I should have the government take it away from me and give it to someone else who hasn't. That's wealth redistribution. I'm not against paying reasonable taxes. If someone out there wants money, I think they should go out and earn it! Some of you disagree, and that's fine...that's how you believe. No point in getting upset about it. It is what it is.

I believe that giving tax-breaks to individuals AND businesses promotes growth in the industrial world, and the economy. I think that raising taxes on businesses and individuals forces them to reduce spending (because they can't afford things that they once could). When individuals reduce spending, companies start laying people off, because they no longer have the customer base they once had. This forces them to raise prices, because they aren't selling as much as they once were. This THEN leads to even less spending from the thrifty consumers who are out there watching every penny they spend. Soon enough...businesses close doors. Am I missing something here?

I also believe that every law abiding citizen has the right to bear arms, the freedom of speech, AND the right to pursue happiness. It doesn't mean the government OWES me happiness. It means life is what we make of it, and I have just as much of a right to pursue it as the next guy! We don't all succeed. Life is full of choices and circumstances. There are millions of idiotic people in this country right now complaining that they "Can't find work". They show up to businesses around lunch time (after they wake up) with their baggy pants hanging off of their asses, and mumble their way through interviews while slouching, using improper english, and acting as if they know nothing about manners or respect. How do I know you ask? I've taught classes to high school and college students about "Successful job interviewing skills" for the last 8 years. Trust me...you would not believe what these retards do during interviews! I'm not stereotyping because it's ALL races that do this kind of stuff, but it's just amazing.

I'm also against HUGE government spending. I'm all for looking for sources of renewable energy, improving infrastructure, electric grids, etc... but not with the price tag that's being waved around. As someone who's worked for the government for 18 years, let me tell you....I've seen a LOT of government waste! Every year during the end of our fiscal year, I've seen shit that would make your head spin!!! We "HAVE" to spend every last government dollar (or we loose it next year), so I've seen our command spend $10,000 on a t.v., $9000 for a gator, $70,000 for 2 rockwalls, etc... Just last week, our command paid $1000 for advertising in a H.S. golf tournament solely because one of the officers in recruiting is affiliated with the event. It's absolutely some of the stupidist shit I've ever seen...but that's how our government works.

I think when it's all said and done, we all have to pick a side that we're most comfortable with, and anyone that tries to convince us otherwise...well, we just get pissed and go back to stating our own beliefs on the matter and call eachother names. In the end...what have we proved? That we can play on words better than the next guy? Okay, big whoopdydo! What has it changed? Nothing.

Sorry for posting my whole $28.01 worth, but just had to blow off some steam! Carry on with the bickering and anger...I'm going to chill!

Please, please tell me that you're not taking this seriously anymore.

Why would ANYONE take this thread seriously anymore??? The "left" is crazy as all fucking hell, and the "right" can't convince them that they elected satan...what else is there to say? :D

Jim, you pretty much stated exactly what I've been thinking! I keep reading this thread, but I end up not participating much because I know nobody will change my mind, and I'm not going to change anyone else's. Spirited debate is one thing, but the name calling is really annoying.
