Queen+ SP Facebook group...

Postby joonrock » Thu May 07, 2009 3:25 am

There has been a facebook group started that is trying to get Steve Perry into Queen. Paul Rodgers announced last week that he is done with Queen after their awful flop that was their debut album. What are your opinions?
If you like then join the group.... Rumour has it that an email has been sent to Brian May about it.
Olly.

Can't get to FB from work, so I can't comment on the link. Therefore... Is this really true? :?

Can someone's :::eh, hem::: prediction not be that far off base then?

Are there plans for Queen to continue :?: :?: :?:

Are they actively looking for a replacement?

Every time someone says Paul Rodgers has ended his association with Queen, I google but can never find anything. Can we get a link that has him saying he is done working with the group?
Thanks

“Well, you know, we did a world tour, we did a second tour of Europe and the Far East and Eastern Europe and we did a studio album and I think we’re kind of leaving it there gently. It’s out there for us to do things in the future if there’s something, a huge charity say like Nelson Mandela, I’m always open to that, but I think we are pretty much done.”

I can't picture Steve Perry singing for them. I actually think George Michael is a better fit.

I agree 100%. George Michael would be a better fit vocally for Queen.

Neither can I. As much as me loves Perry, I can think of a much better candidate for fronting Queen! :D

I also cant picture Steve Perry with Queen. Just a totally different style of music than Journey. Steve has a gift with singing power ballads and softer rock songs, cant picture him singing harder rock and glam rock.

This is absolutely Soto's gig to lose. That has to be his. Brian May isn't stupid, JSS is big over there, and they have chemistry and respect.

This is as easy as it gets folks.

So what's the holdup?

Has JSS emailed Brian and offered his services?

That would be a new Queen I could get into.

That says something about Steve Perry doesn't it? I for one can't see him in any other band but Journey or the Strange Love Medicine Band. That says something about his identifiable voice- it's tough to picture him singing anything but Journey.

George Michael has a helluva voice and can do justice to that catalog, but.........

Dude has a thing for parks, public johns, strange dudes and jizz in his rear end. Would May tolerate this shit? I guess Freddie had a thing for tubesteak in his tailpipe too, but last time I checked, he wasn't roaming public restrooms looking for new cocks. How does Jeff fit in here? Will he have to adopt and learn how to play another dudes meat straw?

Michael's retired from active business - performed his last set of Concerts a year or so ago but he could easily re-associate with Queen. If Queen are looking to line their pockets a little more he's the safe bet.

I don't see why they just don't go for a rotation of lead singers guesting at various concerts, that would allow Soto and others in to work their magic and would stop Queen from stagnating.

I would have to think that if Perry was asked, he would never give it any thought. But on the other hand, am i wrong for thinking this but Steve Perry at 60 with a totally different range in his voice now, with the richness and overall tone and complete style he probably has would be interesting. Knowing him, he would try and change tone and structure to fit whats best for the band. With his trademark concerning Perry Tools IF he has anything left in the tank,. he would try and create a huge following to strengthen his career, h'mmmmmm. Maybe something like that wouldn't be such a bad move afterall. And what do you think the overall public as far as record sales would be.

I thought Journey had now stopped the rotation mentality and found the perfect lead  Probably what I meant about Queen was they should put a stop to the new material and have a 'play the Greatest Hits gig' every now and then with a whole host of guesting musicians, they've nothing to prove any more as Queen died with Mercury

Paul was perfect with them and I'm really sad they seem to be at the end, but I'm really thankful I got to see them. I really can't imagine anyone else fronting them.

Adam could do it but don't see him committing to it long term. I think he's gonna ride the wave to a solo career.
