George Michael would be the only logical choice to front a new Queen lineup, but I'm pretty sure you'll see Brian and the band moving on to other projects at this point.

I'd go see them with George too. Oh and I think I remember you (I think it was you, lol) said you'd see George live too and what you would do before going

No, IIRC, Dan said something along the lines of, "that guy is a flaming homosexual who likes to use his asshole as a meat locker."

Well, I will never forget that brilliance right there. It just doesn't get any better than that!

You know we had 9/11 and the JFK assassination, and no one ever forgot where they were? Well, Dan's Shakespearean line will forever always be with me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Dan.

Well, Arnel drummed up enough interest for Journey.....

Arnel replaced Steve Augeri and Soto, and was a step up from them. Soto would be a step down from Paul Rodgers. If Paul Rodgers, and his massive built in fanbase couldn't save Queen, Soto sure as fuck isn't going to. Soto will not be offered the gig.

That's quite a stretch, especially considering YOU just mentioned Augeri who ALSO drummed up enough interest.... I don't know if he'll be offered it or not, but that's an unfair assement since they DID consider him at one point.

Now that they've seen that Paul Rodgers couldn't do it Soto won't even be considered. It wouldn't make any sense to do it without any sort of big name.

Well Queen can continue to tour based on their past catalog just fine, just like any other classic rock band has done the last several years. None of the new albums are really huge successes or relevant, yet they still tour and sell tickets. It makes no sense that Queen can't do the same with whoever they choose to replace him. Foreigner, Def Lep, Bon Jovi, Heart..... the list goes on.

You make NO sense and contradict yourself. Journey according to you fans here "made it" without a big name. Pineda is hardly a big name. Queen is so much larger a name than Journey worldwide, that I could sing lead for those fucks and draw a crowd.

What's with the gay bashing? Oh yeah...

Anyway

Queen with JSS or anyone else on vocals could tour on the success of their catalogue, but having an international superstar like George (and yes he's MUCH bigger now overseas than he is in the US) would be probably the biggest tour of that year. GM has the star power to move tickets, and he is the only one I think of off the top of my head that can deliver a song like Freddie could.

As successful as he's been on American Idol this season I have to believe George is still more of a household name.

You just got done saying that Queen could tour on it's catalog, ie name. Who gives a shit about personal name recognition, and also, there would be a lot of fans, rock fans especially here in the US, that would say no fucking way to a George Michael led Queen. That's just too pussified. Can you imagine Michael pulling a perry and throwing in some of his earlier solo work, like dropping Wake Me Up before you Go Go in the fuckin' encore?

Good Goddamned already!

You sure about that? hey are close friends, Jeff and Brian, and Brian is that bands Schon. He calls the shots. Brian is too fucking old to go do a European Soul Sirkus. I would say a Queen led soto would get rave reviews. You have to remember dan, this isn't personal. Soto led Journey blew away Lippard in every newspaper and online review. it's a matter of if you get to the gig, it will be great. The hardest part will be able to sell the fan on who soto is; or---just advertise the name Queen.

I say it's 5-1 JSS gets it.

Haven't read the posts beyond this so if this already said, my bad.

Rodgers having a massive fanbase has nothing to do with his ability to save Queen. Queen didn't really need saving. They needed to lay low until they found the right singer. PR was not it. Its the voice, not the fame they need.

Arnel was good for Journey 'cause of his voice and backstory. Had he been an American white kid with the same voice, they might've gotten attention but not the tv spots that went after them.

JSS wouldn't be a Mercury clone but his voice does a lot of Queen really well. Lambert could do it as well but won't. Another singer that could really nail Freddie is Mika but he's doing well solo so he won't go for it either.

Perry in Queen will happen after Perry in Journey again (nevah).

I seriously disagree. I like Jeff on some stuff, but not when he's trying to be someone else. I know he WANTS to sound like Perry and Mercury, but he sounds nothing like either of them! Stick to Soul Sirkus and Talisman. JMHO. I'd personally rather see George get the gig. Who cares if he's gay? So was Freddie, and it didn't seem to bother the hundreds of millions of fans he had!

Agree completely Jim, George could just be himself and it would be great! And all this gay stuff is really getting old and I'm not even a " Liberal ", its just not funny. Anyway, not the PC police, just my 2 cents.

Steve Perry and Queen = Hilariously bad.
George Michael and Queen = Not bad, but his vocal chops are not what they used to be.
JSS & Queen = Probably a winning combination, but will never happen. Maybe a 1 shot gig or tribute show, etc.

Well as for the "bashing" accusations, I simply found a JOKE from Dan funny months and months ago, and that's not "bashing". And that joke is HARDLY as bad as some of the other stuff I've seen posted here the last few years.

As for JSS and Queen, I don't think when JSS does Queen he tries to sound anything like Mercury or imitate him at all, I have the Queen convention cd's where he sings tons of Queen songs, I've listened to them a ton, and he just sings them his own way, and they sound great IMO. Would be cool to see him sing with them.

I don't see why they just don't go for a rotation of lead singers guesting at various concerts, that would allow Soto and others in to work their magic and would stop Queen from stagnating.

Why? Not exactly working for Journey is it? :P
