Hey everybody,

Wanted to stop by and let you know were all gearing up for our tours. I've been very busy working on my house and studio.

Got my bro, the one and only...DEEN C!!! Deen is coming in on the 13th for some recording with myself and Igor Len, the man I did "I on U" with. Except this time...no limitations! Want to see what kind of solo record we can pull out of the air .

We have nothing written or etched in stone but I love that feeling that something's going to be created on the spot, much like a lot of the best Journey songs that came about.

Been working on alot of JRNY song ideas for sometime now and we will write our next album while on tour this year. We're scheduled to go in the studio Oct and Nov 09' with Kevin Shirley again. It promises to be a rocker.

We should have our new full length DVD from Manila out for the holidays and we just completed our new (film) documentary. (The crew have been shooting over the last year). Ramona Diaz and her boys were just in the bay area filming Ross, Jon, myself and then went to see Deen in Oregon.

Looking forward to see you all out there this tour. We're not playing a lot of the main cities this year because we couldn't play some of the smaller cities last year and really want to hit everywhere we missed.

Stay cool

I find it very interesting that Neal never once mentions Arnel. I guess he's not really a member of Journey. He's just the hired help. :?

I didn't read it that way. There's a lot of we's in there, which include Arnel. Deen was mentioned re the solo CD. The other guys were mentioned in regards to the documentary and filming right now. Arnel's part was done way back in Manila a while back. He's addressing what's going on now with the documentary filming, which is the rest of the guys in the U.S.

I agree. Arnel is part of Journey.

With that said, it's wonderful to hear from Neal. t looks like it's going to be a great year. Personally, I'm looking forward to another NS CD, DVD and Documentary. It's all good.

IMO the jury's still out on that one. I believe he deserves to be. It will be interesting to see if Arnel is involved in any of the song writing on their next album.

The spelling's too good to be Neal's writing. jk jk

So have I missed this documentary announcement? This is the first I've heard of it. Not too jazzed about Journey these days but I'd buy a doc.

Sarah, here's part of the article on the documentary from last year.
"LOS ANGELES, California—Now it can be told: award-winning filmmaker Ramona Diaz is making a feature-length documentary on Journey that’s tentatively titled “Don’t Stop Believin’: Everyman’s Journey.”

Ramona, who won awards for her documentaries “Imelda” and “Spirits Rising,” shared with me the news via e-mail. She wrote, “This film is ultimately a snapshot of Journey at this moment in 2008 in its 30-plus year history, as it emerges with a new lead singer.” The band’s vocalist is, as everyone knows by now, Arnel Pineda.

In what is no doubt an exciting project, Ramona and her crew have been following Journey from rehearsals to concert stages. She said she has “full access to the band.” So far, the director who was born and raised in the Philippines but is now based in Maryland has been pleased with the cooperation of the band and their manager, John Baruck. “Arnel’s manager in the Philippines, Bert de Leon, has also been so cooperative,” Ramona added.

“What makes me really excited is that everyone is on board and understands what I’m trying to do with this film,” revealed the filmmaker, a graduate of Emerson College, with an M.A. in communications from Stanford University. It all began when Ramona thought that a documentary, especially on a veteran rock band like Journey as it continues to reassert itself in the music scene with a new vocalist, would make a fascinating film. She asked her manager, Peter McHugh, nephew of the late Sen. Rene Cayetano and son of Alice Cayetano McHugh, to broach the idea to the band’s manager, John Baruck.

The months-long negotiations eventually resulted in a dream project come true for Ramona. “We’ve been filming on and off since May and we’ll wrap in Manila when they perform in the spring.”

I doubt it. Foreigner looks next up on that merry-go-round. With the Greatest hits already done, DVD release coming out seperately and homeless third world youtube angle already played, what's the motivation for Walmart. They've got a slew of artists like Def Leppard, Styx, Pat Benatar and Heart still to do triple disc releases with.

Foreigner appears to have the same deal as Journey; new music disc, remixed classic disc and live album disc. We just don't know yet if they're doing it for Walmart, Best Buy or Target.

I think the new album will be financed by Journey itself. That way the can put it on Itunes and Amazon Music, something they couldn't do with Walmart.

They've got money to burn. They could live off their royalties alone for the rest of their life.
Digital is where it's at. Every year physical Media sales decrease while digital distribution continues upward. Itunes only keeps around 30 cents on the dollar for each song purchased on their site. It's a gold mine for seasoned professionals that play their cards right.

Definitely more Late Nite than Pirahna Blues. It's great news that Neal is working on a new solo album! It will be interesting to hear what a collaboration with Deen will result in - their combined vocals would be awesome.

Good Lord, no wonder Neal & the band don't post very often, you guys can be brutal, even his past mods trash him. ;) J/K

Personally, I'm very happy that he is now communicating with us..long time and he's been missed. Just wish Deen would join in on the fun. :)

Neal seems happy, he looks fantastic & he's playing crazy good. Journey had a great year last year and things are looking good for this year...good for them...wish we could all post such happy news about our lives.

When he says "we", of course he means the entire band..and that's Neal, Jon, Ross, Deen & Arnel.

Deen is joining him & Len, from I on U fame, for a new solo record which they plan to create on the spot *much like a lot of the best Journey songs*...COOL! Can't wait to hear Neal & Deen join on this colaboration.

Journey is scheduled to go into studio this Oct. - Nov. '09 with KS; and it's going to be a rocker..awesome! Mucho looking forward to that one! Love to hear Journey rock.

Glad to hear him explain the smaller city venues this tour, makes sense, sorry they're missing Nashville; but they can't do everything.

"Stay cool" classic Neal.

I believe the "Try before you buy" period is over and Arnel is officially part of the band now.

Jana wrote:Hey everybody,

Stay cool

Neal
