One would reasonably think that the owner of the club and promoter would know which Steve Perry he was booking. I find it very hard to believe that it's a different Steve Perry.

However, if there is video recording equipment at this gig, I would look for a Best Buy or Target exclusive release of Steve Perry performs the music of Journey with live DVD packin.

I wonder if there is such a thing as vocal cord juicing, like a once off thing to restore someone's voice for a couple hours?

If the hoopla moves the old Journey records off the shelf, then it's win/win for everybody (well, 80's era Journey members anyway).

Here's more on this Pipeline place: "Pipeline has hosted the likes of Prince, the Black Eyed Peas, Evanescence, Jenny Lewis, and thousands more"

I wonder if Andrew is on the Wombat phone right now, getting ready to come in here and set us all straight?

I have a question. If it's true, isn't Perry's NEW MUSIC (CD) due out like now, in the spring? And if it is, will he be singing his brand new songs from it? What's going on and why there of all places. Does not make any sense at all.

Pipeline has nothing scheduled for him on their website and there are no Tickets listed for it. Someone may have pulled a good hoax on us.

LOL. Come on guys. You should know better. The site already updated the page saying it's not true. They shot it down. You should all beat yourselves over the head with a frying pan, Looney Toons style, for actually believing this.

UPDATE #2 - 5/12/09

Well, as of 12:45 p.m. today, you can basically ignore everything below this update.

Despite putting out an official press release this morning, the folks at Pipeline Cafe now say former Journey lead singer Steve Perry will not perform at the Kakaako nightclub next month.

According to a Los Angeles-based attorney for the singer, Pipeline never had permission to host a public performance by Perry. Club owner Greg Azus confirmed a few minutes ago that the concert is not going to happen.

Too bad — there are lots of Steve Perry fans who would pay good money to see him perform in Honolulu.

LOL, typical that lost among the din of the kickstarting of female-oriented appliances across the entire board were Memorex (on the FIRST PAGE  ) and RossValoryRocks' posts pointing out the likely truth. Incredibly, Cyndy's own debunk got stampeeded in the "HE'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" orgasma

I'd expect a mention of (ex) Journey vocalist, etc etc if it were the real perry but don't let reason get in the way of the fantasy er hope.

It was fun for a New York Minute though. The SP loons praising the return of the king, and the AP loons batting down the hatches and readying for battle.

I would have been as shocked as anyone. I can't imagine that he would perform live before the album comes out. Who knows? Just hope we get to hear him live again someday.

I wonder just how much Perry gets for a private performance? It's gotta be a buttload of moolah..

Another thing.. what was it, 28$ a ticket... to see STEVE PERRY PERFORM? RiiiiiiiiIIiiiigHtttT. Those tickets would be so highly priced, that only so little of us could afford to pack up and go.

still confusing..

why was this even announced in the first place? and what does the statement "the venue never had permission to host a performance by SP" mean? do you have to be pre-approved? strange stuff

That seemed very low, yes.

Isn't it just beyond insane how so many rumors can circulate (and make print in online newspapers at times) all about this singular event: the comeback of Steve Perry.

If I may "think out loud" here.....and this is all speculation, people:

MAYbe there WAS a Private Performance on the Bill....but, someone ruined it by leaking it.

 Remember that other thing from the Notice Board, "Steve Perry Sang LIVE!!"....?
If it was true, and SUPPOSED to be "private".....yeah; good one on that......
