Just wanted to say that they always have successful tours. The tour in 2006 was #15 on Billboards charts. Last years tour was #18. Touring has never been a problem even before the influx of AP fans.

Where did you get the tour information? The tour with JSS was more successful than the tour with AP? Hmmm... 8)

Look on Billboard's site

Ah, I guess I shoulda figured. I find it interesting that such a controversial tour (with JSS) that didn't have the media blitz behind it outsold the tour with AP at the helm. Congrats, Jeff Scott Soto! 8) It makes me wonder now if Journey lost more fans after the SA debacle or as a result of Jeff's firing/Arnel's hiring.

I would think the JSS tour was people who had bought tickets for longtimer Steve Augeri with the band, not knowing they had to call in a replacement during the tour. What was the gross earnings I wonder for both years? Each year is different b/c some big name acts only tour every so often. Both years they had great bands they toured with which sells the tickets also. Many people who saw Journey last year did so b/c they love Heart and thought that was a good combo, not just that it was Journey playing.

I guess that is possible, earlier in the year. I saw them a total of 4 times (3 with DL and at the Jamestown celebration - that wasn't held in Jamestown... :? ) knowing that JSS was the lead singer. When I was in the bathroom at the Pompano Beach show, there were some women there talking like they thought perhaps it was supposed to be SP singing, so anything's possible!!! I simply find it interesting that with all of the fans AP brought to shows, and the increased amount of media buzz his story brought them, that they didn't outsell the 2006 tour. I do believe that Def Leppard probably had something to do with it, as they probably drew more people than Heart & Cheap Trick. Just my thoughts. :)

That's my thought too, love them or hate them, Def Leppard is a BIG draw.

That dude is consistantly having ailments including headaches. If his kid has immunity issues like him and gets sick while he is on tour how is AP going to handle that?

Hope he get's well soon. The Sacramento gig is only 1 week away...and the band has not been together since they finished the Asian leg of the tour. Illness + lack of rehearsal = not good. Hopefully they all get together a couple days before the concert.

As for thread like this being posted, heh, without you guys who claim the thrill is gone or you're not interested, I'm sure the band is singing "I'll Be Alright Without You". They still do make a lot of people happy, including me. Realizing they are aging and not gonna be around forever, I'm gonna keep enjoying them as long as I can. 8)

If we didn't bitch this shit would be boring as hell, wouldn't it. That's what all those other sites are for, to be little churchs for the AP faithful. We're more of your Sodom and Gomorrah types here.

I don't see much difference to be honest. Andrew frowns on criticisms against JSS the same way that Arnel's brother who runs his official site wouldn't allow Arnel to be disrespected on his site. I also think that both sites would allow criticisms as long as they are worded nicely and respectfully. If you think this site isn't an SP shrine, try starting a thread of you spotting Perry combing his hair and I'll bet you it will have a hundred pages.

BTW GB, don't go saying "I heart you dude" again. That freaked me out that I could post for weeks. I also couldn't walk on dark alleys without looking behind me for a white man after my tight pinoy ass

That said the show is close to being sold out from what I can tell at ticketbasterd.. seats left are in the way upper deck in the corner... curious but not enough to pay to see them as I was in 2002 with Augeri... Now that was awesome..

I was in Des Mojnes this weekend and the show is being promoted very well there. You were able to choose Journey or 2 other headliners if you won tickets on one of the radio stations. I might make the drive down for this one.

What station? KGGO? One of the morning guys was was playing YouTube vidios on air just after some of Arnel's early shows. They also played the entire Red 13 EP the last time they were here. I bet they are close to sold out here as well.

Heard WDILYL in a mall today. Pretty cool.

For those whining about the Perry thing, if you don't feel that you can go and just enjoy Journey's tunes without Perry for a single evening, then stay home. Who cares? People look at it like "Ohh, I'm a traitor if I do that". No... you're just enjoying good music. Perry's making his dough, Journey's making theirs. If you don't like the new lineup, who gives a crap? You won't be missed at the shows. I saw them last year and the show kicked ass. Glad I went. I'd go again if I could. And when Perry gets his thing together, I'll go see that too. It's not a slight on Journey to do that.

It's 2009, things change. Roll with it and stop waiting for Santa.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
