Is the new found popularity of songs like Don't Stop Believing
a good thing, or can over exposure of a song eventually drive it into the ground?

Thoughts?

Since 2003 when it was used in Monster, the song seems to have had an annual run up the Itunes chart. I guess it will play itself out eventually.

Love it and don't consider it overplayed at all.

Over exposure? The song's been out for how long? It was in the ground years ago. The fact that it's enjoying success away from the die hards is simply because of some good licensing choices and the fact that it's very good song.

Yeah, I was sick of that song by 1984.

Over exposure may have been wrong way to put it.
The feeling that I had when listening to DSB seems to have changed a bit in past couple years.
Song had strong ties to my younger years and makes me kind of grin when I hear it being played in 09
the way it has been lately. Probably just me...carry on. 8)

I think its awesome that Journey has got so much popularity out of that song, especially within the last few years. The thing i hate is the fact that many people define Journey by that song, and many people only give the band credit for that one song. There are a ton of good songs they wrote: I mean what about "wheel in the sky", "lights", "only the young", "be good to yourself", "when you love a woman", "separate ways"..etc.

DSB is a great song but i think it is starting to get a little overplayed. Journey has so many good songs its too bad that some of those couldnt get more exposure in Movies Etc...

Don't Stop Believin' is a nice song, but it's getting overused IMO...some of the versions I've heard hurt my ears! Hated that one from "Glee".
