Ever since '97 the Wings have won by being deep. In '97 it was "the grind line" which was the 4th line. Maltby, Draper, and Kocur. The Wings are still winning and Datsyuk hasn't scored in 8 games. They still just roll 4 lines and wear you down. If the Wings are able to sign Hossa, they may be forced to lose or trade Hudler and Samuelson. Bummer, but they'll have more top notch players to bring up from the farm.

BJG, Rhi???? Where are you? And where the hell is Waldo.....err Deano???

I'm perfectly cool, sir, trust me. The Hawks may just pull it out, or they may not. But I'm not all about running around with all this "in yo face, my team is better and here's why" bullshit. I can be a fan and support my favorite team without 800 posts about how they're going to whip ass and why they "deserve" to win so much more than the other teams.

It's fun to have fun back and forth, but all the cocky stuff is getting kind of tired. I like the Wings, too, and if my Hawks can't pull the train to the next stop, then I'll be a little disappointed, but I'll still hope for the Wings to take it. But I'm not going to be all obnoxious about it. I can be a sore loser sometimes, I admit, but being a sore winner is much more annoying.

Geeze Louise, fine i won't boast that the Wings are the superior team. I'll be completely neutral in my assessment of the games from now on, if it'll keep you from whining and moaning like a 4 year old!

That's what you'd think wouldn't you YJRNY? Would you like me to agree with you about how this is the Penguins are going to win it all this year? I think the forum would run so much more smoothly.

I was pretty much saying that the smack talk and all of that hoopla comes with the territory, and when it comes down to it, it's the debate and trash talkin' is what makes these threads fun. (Unless one is a sore loser and takes things too serious and completely ruin the topic of trash talking), but that's a different story. I was just saying to BJG to WIN and she can start lighting the fireworks herself. Why would I want you to agree with me about the Pens? I want the opposite. After the series is when we congratulate, but until then, game on.

Hang in there BJG 8)

I know man. I agree with your post 100%. Especially this part, "unless one is a sore loser and takes things too serious and completely ruin the topic of trash talking" Which I feel has already happened. My post was dripping with sarcasm. Maybe I'll take this round off and see you next round when the Wings... I'm sorry BJG IF the Wings meet the Penguins in the next round. See ya then YJRNY!

Well, *I* can't "WIN" because I'm not a player, so as soon as I:

1) learn to skate 10 feet without falling over
2) am accepted onto the Blackhawks

... then I might be able to have something to do with the winning.
Until then it's out of my hands and it's up to the B-hawks to do the winning.

Is that why I found you in that alley drawing the number 55 into the dirt with goat's blood and sticking pins into a GI Joe with a beard drawn on and holding a makeshift hockey stick that was a popsicle stick with a band-aid on the end?

Thank god. For a minute, I'd thought you'd gone yumpy, but now it makes sense.

Well, hopefully they give you or SOMEONE a call, because they need an extra body to suite up for the blood bath that their going to endure.  JK, I think the series will go longer than people expect. I still have Detroit in 5-6 though.

Pens up 2-0 end of first. At least for this 1 game, Carolina doesn't have a prayer. This is complete domination so far. Carolina has no answer, lucky for them, that's what adjustments are for.

I was watching part of it while running at the gym. Right when Chad LeRose (cutie) banked that twofer. I assume its over by now, but looked like game on once Carolina woke up.

The first game of any series is all about feeling each other out, and getting use to the game speed of that team, esp (in this case) in this series of Pitt/Car since they rarely ever play each other, so there's no familiarly there. The Pens usually play teams well that match their talent and both teams are quick and to the point. I expect the series to heat up, esp when it goes to Game 3 in Carolina.

It was actually a BLADE that cut him, much worse! But that doesn't happen THAT often. Scary though! All sports can be deadly though. And you have to love a sport where you can beat up on someone and only end up sitting in a box like a 2 year old for 2 minutes  It's part of the excitement!

Yeah - just ask Clint Malarchuk about skate blades to the neck (video is on YT if anyone wants to seriously cringe).

That's the one that I think of, his interior carotid artery was cut and there was immediately a huge pool of blood on the ice and kept just pouring out of him like a faucet, he's so lucky to be alive. Thank goodness for the guy that was there, who I believe was a medic in Vietnam if I remember right, who knew to reach in his neck and pinch it off until more help arrived.
