They were offered an insane amount of money to reunite for one show (I think) and turned it down.
Gunbot wrote:They would have to break up to reform and have a concert. Who can walk up and offer them money when they already have a singer?
If they hadn't announced JSS as there singer after the 2006 Tour, the window might have been open then.

Except for the Loons or Journey fanatics too many casual fans would be noticing the difference in his voice. He couldn't take that. Perry left on a high note with Journey voicewise and would prefer to leave it that way..
Gunbot wrote:Well, I think Journey's ticket to the R&R HOF hinges on some kind of Get together with Perry. That place is all about money and they'll want an Ironclad guarantee that the holy trio will be there if they give an award to the group. Van Halen is the only Rock group that you could argue actually got in because of their replacement singer more so than their original frontman.

Its just weird that Journey is one of the best selling American rock acts, but to my knowledge have still not had a huge offer to reform and do a concert series. I wonder if the fact that because they have been out there touring behind different singers for so long, that the interest just isnt there anymore. Bands like The Police and The Eagles were broken up and had not toured for years and I think the public really missed those bands. I think thats why there was such a huge interest and big deal over these bands, absence makes you want to see a band even more.

I dont think that quite true. But I see your point nevertheless

SP is enjoying life out of the spotlight, Neal and the boys are already selling 10,000-20,000 a show and I'm sure Smitty would prefer to concentrate on Vital Information. Usually when a band reforms as stated above they haven't been touring in awhile or another form of the band has been playing really small venues and it's an offer they can't refuse, after all, money talks.

Will we get invites?
WE'LL SEE

Does anybody have actual proof that he is recording?
Let's say it's true; why would he do a one time Journey performance, then go off on his own again? I would think he would do ONE Journey show, then call it a day, like he has for the past 13 years. Perry is always "thinking about it" yet nothing that could be considered fruit has ever come out of his thoughts.
So I ask again, is there any actual proof that he's recording?

People interpret Perry in the studio means he's recording something to release... Just because he's in the recording studio doesn't mean its he's doing it to put it out for the public to hear.... He can afford the best of anything, so it makes sense that he'd record at the best studios, and use the best engineers and musicians he can.
For many musicians, the rigors of the post recording process (promotion, touring, etc) are simply something that is suffered through, because it simply doesn't have anything to do with creating music... But the process of recording, creating new music, is what many many musicians LOVE, because its the equivalent of a "painters pallat" for a musician.
Don't forget Perry was a studio rat before he joined Journey.

Good points. Perry should just stick a studio in his house. Crap, if I have one he can have one a little better than mine...
