Didn't see her. But what a kickass finale show for her to see live! Good for her! Ya know I totally forgot all about reading that David Cook's brother just died. Even when he was singing that song and you could see his eyes water near the end, I just thought wow he really got into that one. Not until Ryan said something about it being a rough couple weeks for him did it click in, oh right.

What a freakin' thrill that must have been for Adam singing with rock legends like Queen and Kiss! Major star power on stage and tons in the audience too. I only fully watched the first couple seasons, then random episodes over the years, but got totally suckered in after seeing Adam's Mad World and Ring of Fire.

They showed Justin Guerini a couple times in the crowd, he looked blown away by how big the show is now. Little cutie patootie.

I didn't see her either but I only watched David's performance, DVR'ed the rest to watch later, and hearing Queen was on, sounds awesome. At least on DVR I can fast forward all the other crap I could care less to see without sitting there for 2 hours, lol.

Yes Deb, I noticed that too from David towards the end, what a strong man though to be able to get through it. I was hurting just watching him. I loved what he said at the end too, that the song is not only about his brother's fight with cancer, but also to honor everyone and their loved ones who have faced the same. The lyrics are heartbreaking to me. What an awesome performance.

Adam and Queen, Adam and Slash- it looks like he's on his way. Kind of the same thing with Daughtry a few years ago. I noticed when Kris sang with Keith Urban (a song that I really thought was decent), that when it was over, Kris turned to Urban and Urban was already taking his guitar off and walking off. Looked like a bit of a slight and the cameras panned away quickly.

I thought Kiss looked ridiculous actually, though Adam did well with them. I still shudder when I think of Kiss at the Olympics a few years ago... embarrassing. I thought Peter Criss wasn't in the band any longer, did they just get a guy to wear his makeup? In fact, I wondered that about all of them till Paul spoke.

I was bummed by Rod's performance. It was only a half step down, but it sounded way lower. His voice is really struggling. Too bad.

Still isn't going to make it totally fair, but it would cut it down severely. Which is exactly why the whole thing is a bunch of horsecrap. It's all about making the money and about which contestant makes little girls figure out what it means when their britches get juicy (which in turn, will make money when the little girls start buying up all the music and pins and posters and whatever else...). It has nothing to do with who actually deserves to win or who has more talent.

Then again, I guess that's why they don't call it "American True Talent".

I'm glad Adam didn't win and I've not even heard him sing. I was just so overly sick of hearing about him everywhere I went that it made me hope the underdog took the title, because it was all looking so set up. Good for Kris. I actually did see a bit of Kris's singing and that kid is damn good.

In a stunning upset, sweet-faced Kris Allen claimed victory over glam-rocker Adam Lambert in an "American Idol" showdown that received nearly 100 million votes from viewers.

Lambert, a 27-year-old former understudy in the touring production of "Wicked," was heavily favored as the frontrunner throughout Season Eight.

Allen, a 23-year-old missionary from Conway, Arkansas, had built up a loyal following that seemed to grow larger as the weeks progressed.

"I think there was a point where I was like, 'why am I not in the bottom three?'" Allen told CNN after his big win. "I think there was times where I definitely deserved to be."

Queen has been in the market for a singer (the group hasn't had a permanent frontman since the flamboyant Freddie Mercury died in 1991). Perhaps that's an announcement somewhere down the road.

As for Lambert, while he had so much fun "playing dress-up" with Kiss, performing with Queen was "the period at the end of the sentence ... more of an exclamation point."

Judge Simon Cowell told the San Diego native during Tuesday night's show that he was "one of the best, most original contestants we've ever had on the show." After Wednesday's finale, Lambert talked about his experience on the show.

"I think, maybe, I opened people's eyes up a little bit to something different. I'm a little different, and it was really exciting to have the support of the country," said Lambert. "Just to be able to take risks and be celebrated for that felt really, really good."

It came as no surprise that when Allen was announced as the new "American Idol," his dad was crying in the audience. Although the judges initially seemed shocked the humble, coffeehouse-style singer-songwriter had made it to the final two, Allen told CNN that he felt he deserved to be the new Idol.
