Clay Aiken's bitter because he was tossed out of the American Idol studios. He dissed everyone involved with the show a couple of years ago and now wants to play nice.

Aiken is talented, but when talented people take pot shots at other talented people, I tend to side with those being shot at, not the ones shooting.

I thought Adam's version of RING OF FIRE was incredible.

If he wants to wear eye-liner, pantyhose, and high heels or just a thong with FUCK YOU written on it, he's still one of the most original and talented artists AI has ever seen.

It's cool if people don't like him, I know many who've crucified Steve Perry for some of the same reasons they have Adam, but it doesn't change the fact that both men are talented and the rest of it's subjective.

ADAM will be in Queen... and be phenominal...it might be short term... but think of this... dam already sang with KISS and QUEEN on the same night... who else can say that???
It was almost like a fantasy rock and roll camp!! I would love to see Allison and Adam work together on a duet.

I'm not so sure that's a good thing. Both acts are well past their prime. And again, I see that as a footnote. Sure, on a personal level, what a cool thing for him. But I doubt it will truly have that much of an impact in the long run.

Gawd. I hope not.

Not to take from Adam's talent but he's not the second coming, here, people.
Queen should aim much higher if they wish to continue on.

And I don't wish to see another one of my favorite bands bite the dust ( ) this way.

If Queen takes on a freakin' American Idol contestant... omg... there is just something so wrong with that.
They might as well start looking for cover band singers on Youtu- er... nevermind.

Hey, it's the 21st century so why not? AI and YouTube, for all their faults, are perfect vehicles for previewing/auditioning/sorting through vocalists. And it's free and you can do it from wherever you are and in your pajamas. :D

As for Adam not being the second coming, probably true, BUT, Freddie Mercury wasn't always "Freddie Mercury". At one time he was just a kid looking for a break, too.

Who knows, this time next year the point may be moot anyway...

Is it any different than when Neal and the boys were forced to take on Steve Perry for commercial reasons? While it's great to have integrity as a band, they can't live the glam rocker lifestyle if they don't make big money doing it. Adam would secure a big paycheck for Queen - probably even moreso than if they got George Michael to do it.

It is different and here is why:

Adam coming into Queen would not be comparable to Steve Perry joining Journey. It would be comparable to Arnel joining Journey, becuase we're talking about bands that take on new guys to replace the guys that made them huge to start with.

I agree, but it's all commercialism to a certain degree - isn't it? Journey was the one of the early pioneers of corporate rock.

I only saw AI a couple of times during the first season so haven't seen Adam much. However, I watched him and the other guy sing with Queen on YouTube...a couple of his notes did make me cringe!

As for Clay, I read he doesn't like cats so that doomed him in my eyes! :D

He has never had any vocal training whatsoever, so he shouldn't have any opinion of Adam or anybody else, in any way, shape, or form. He has burned many bridges, and Idol wants nothing to do with him. Not to mention, I have never heard any former Idol contestant criticize another one. They're ususally happy for each other.

There's a rumor that he tried to use his baby to get on the Idol set because he wanted to ask Adam to do a duet with him. He was immediately shown the door. That's a little far fetched, but would explain his rant about Adam. Who knows if that was an actual question asked by an actual fan. He could have made it up, just to post his ill-will toward Adam. The whole thing was uncalled for.

walkslikealady he doesn't like cats. In fact, he's very afraid of them. (Can you imagine?) He had a career, and he threw it all away. He's now reduced to a one liner on late night talk shows.

I will say it again. Queen needs a singer. They are still a huge relevant band. They came on AI not for publicity, but to audition Adam IMO . Adam was asked if he was invited to join Queen and he took the 5th amendment. All that matters is what Brian May decides and not anyone on these various sites thinks.

Yak- The visit to AI and being shown the door was a Chicago Sun Times story. They talked to an AI source that said it was very tense. Clay is very angry and a whiner . He knows his 25 minutes is over.

So that story is true? That would explain the nasty blog. He's most definitely a whiner, and as if what he blogged already wasn't enough, he has now blogged an "apology." If you want to call it that: Very cocky, if you ask me. He never has been known to cover his tracks convincingly.

Wow! Such influence! ha ha
05/22/09

Who knew I had so much influence and that my words and opinion mattered so much to so many people!?!?! HA HA HA I'll be the first to admit that my opinion is just that, only my opinion, but for as much as some of the bloggers seem to dislike me and care so little about my thoughts, they sure can waste a lot of their space on what I say! If only many of them took the time to pay attention to important things like the US economy and the welfare of the world's children. But... nah... I could blog about that type of stuff anytime and most wouldn't think twice, but let me say something that they can pick and choose quotes and misinterpret me... and it's showtime! I never assumed my opinion mattered so much! I guess I may have been wrong.

That said, since my previous blog got dissected like a biology lab frog, i suppose I should clarify and even retract some of what I wrote.

I am sure that some were upset by my choice of words describing my opinion of a performance I heard from Adam Lambert. I hope no one actually believed that blood truly poured forth from my ears when I heard him. I obviously meant it as a colorful statement to imply that I did not enjoy what I heard. Any performer hopes that their music will appeal to all people, but no singer realistically expects it to. God knows, I am SURE there are PLENTY of people who can't stand to hear me sing either. I wouldn't dream of assuming that, and I am sure that far worse things have been said about my performances than I would even venture to type here. To me, that's fine. I don't expect unanimous, nor even majority support for my music. But, my guess is Adam doesn't either.

I would not venture to make judgements on the personality or demeanor of anyone I don't know, so none of what I said in my previous blog was directed as a "slam" on Adam as a person. At the same time, I wouldn't dream of slamming him as an entertainer. He does what he does, because he enjoys it, and he obviously has many fans who enjoy it as well. If what i said in my previous blog regarding my impression of a single performance from Adam upset or offended any of his fans, I expect that the mature ones will realize that it was simply a poorly worded metaphor describing my personal tastes. The only person I would really dream of apologizing to is Adam.

And the irony is, if he's smart he couldn't give a crap what I think of his Ring of Fire performance. As an entertainer, Adam knows that one person's opinion of one performance really matters a little less than zero, in the grand scheme of things. He could not have gotten on Idol (nor made it as far as he did) without an immense amount of talent. He surely doesn't need my approval to know he has a gift. At the same time, he realizes that amazing talent doesn't always equal universal appeal. (I could NEVER have the amount of skill and talent that ballet dancers have! that's talent! But, I don't particularly enjoy it!) I am sure that I will have plenty of opportunities in the coming years to hear Adam sing. I imagine he'll be around for years to come. But in the meantime, I definitely don't want to stoop to the level of so many negative freaks on the internet... so, I do apologize to Adam for my colorful (and negative) choice of words. I hope he can forgive me. I imagine he doesn't give a damn! :-) God knows he shouldn't. :-)

Now, for those of you who are able to comment on this.... lets take bets as to which bits and pieces of this blog will end up mass distributed. Be creative.... they don't seem to care about punctuation or whether or not they use all of the words in a sentence... so, have fun.... ;-)
