From your hint, there's obviously a Sammy connection, but I just didn't pick up on it ... only vid I got was Be Good To Yourself, to which Chubby already posted the link. Hopefully someone else got WITS so we can hear the mystery licks.

Thanks for the kind comments on the av, everyone. A least half the fun of going to these shows is the camaraderie with other die-hard fans who have hung in there through the shit and drama with this band and who show up to truly enjoy the music that moves us all. Beautiful people they are, inside and out.

All-in-all a great time last night, in service of a great cause.

Oh, and I saw Deen in the departure lounge at the Sacramento airport ... he looked bouncy ... and happy.

Sounds like I effed up big by skipping the last encore and missing the Journey kids in action, though. :(

Jon's keyboard intros to Open Arms (bleh) and Faithfully are still in there, and OA, Separate Ways, and Wheel in the Sky all have added stuff. I thought the extra licks in WITS were groovy but didn't recognize it, Cyndy. Does this mean I have to turn in my Loon card? 8)

sorry you missed LTS! it was really warm & fuzzy seeing the kids playing up there. i can't blame you for bailing though. it was miserably cold for sacto - worse than shoreline, which is known to go from sunny 75 to windy 50 degrees during a show. my muscles are in pain from shivering 2 nights in a row!

a loon may not know the extra licks in WITS, but a real neal fan should. my sig & location may give you a hint. :)

i love a good riddle!!!

if I heard it, I'd get it right away.

It was a charity event, attendance numbers are probably fuzzy.

To me the venue looked really full. I know GA was SOLD OUT.

Probably not the best Journey show but it was pretty damn good considering it was a charity show with a temporary stage, no spot lights and mediocre sound. For the first show of the tour I thought it was great :D :D Absolutely love how they are changing things up with the classics and also with Wildest Dreams. I loved that one. Must be one of NS's favorite. I thought LTS with the kids was also great. Certainly a lot of potential there worth keeping an eye on.

Another thing I noticed was the expression on AP's wife's face when she turned around and looked at the crowd during Lights when the crowd was really into it. It seemed like maybe she was just starting to realize what type of crowd Journey plays for in the states and the fact that the crowds do accept AP In Journey.

Also, AP has one really cute kid who can hold his own in the crowd anyday (when he's awake :D )

Someone on Arnel's site said they were stopped and asked if they had any extra tickets to sell there, so thought maybe it was sold out.
I wondered how his wife felt, being in America for the first time and witnessing Journey playing in the U.S. before its fans. It must have been amazing for her. She had only for the first time just recently seen a live concert in Manila and China b/f its Asian fans. And being in the U.S. for the first time California isn't a bad way to visit the U.S.

Separate Ways. The sound is bad in some parts but I really like his take on this song.

i didn't intend for this to become a big dramatic mystery! i just hoped someone else recognized the fun riff. there may be the possibility that i am the ONLY one excited about this. at the show, lora pretended not to know me when i started squealing, "LISTEN, DO YOU RECOGNIZE THAT?"

I've always felt that HSAS was a true lost opportunity. MTV was squarely behind them and easily could've been the supergroup of the 80s.

Great find Cyndy! I'm with you, song rocks and one of my favorite CDs of all time!

Well, I was in CA for the weekend, back visiting from school. My girlfriend surprised me with tickets! A very good show despite the wind in the outdoor venue affecting the sound. Arnel was in good form as was the rest of the band. a few nice changes to the arrangements on some songs...and yes, the riff from HSAS "My Home Town" added by Neal. We left before the encore to beat the traffic, but all in all it was a good show with very good attendance.
