Postby Marabelle » Fri May 29, 2009 11:30 am

Cavemen announced today that his wife just had a new baby girl named Eden! I can't post a picture cause I don't know how but I thought it was just terrific news!

Here's a good idea for a baby shower gift if they haven't already had one:

Who is this Cavemen person? Is he a musician? When I searched, this is what comes up:

Are these guys in a band?

Anyway, congrats to whichever one of the cavemen who had the baby.

Congrats to Kevin and wife!

Now were fucked as far as getting that Manila DVD out. We have to wait for Kevin to go thru changing a bunch of diapers first.

Just don't get any doo on anything. Well, you can get doo on TDTWT, since it was the one song that already sounds like doo.

Don't forget, they still have to run it through Perry first, unless they are going to edit out all the songs he co-penned. Like the Rev DVD, I'm sure some green will do the trick.

Isn't there some stute of limitations or contract length, where at the end Journey is off the hook and can do as they please, as far as SP is concerned? Obviously, I don't understand the business workings of it all, but I'm sure one of our experts here has kept track. :)

This is a copyright issue, nothing to do with Steve's other agreements with the band. Video copyright is different than audio in some aspects. If Perry were to release a DVD himself the same rules would apply on songs where he is not the solitary writer. This is why songs get pulled from Youtube, even when they're just covers. Video reproduction without a publisher or writer's consent is different. You just can't mail them a royalty check based of the amount of discs you're going to produce like they do with CDs. It's a different ball game.
When Arnel's video were getting one million hits, that's like 85 thousand dollars in royalties if you total it up around twenty or so songs he was covering. Youtube doesn't want to be on the hook for that, that's why the videos got pulled. Not because he sang the originals better. When people make video playlists they're getting the product for free, and that's what gets the publishers and songwriters on the case. nothing is free in America, especially other people's copyrighted works.

By the power of Wikipedia... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Shirley
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!
