You may want to clarify that or people will think you're publicly proclaiming you are bisexual. Nothing wrong with that if you are, but I'm not sure that's what you meant to broadcast.

Well absolutely not the Rolling Stones. Aerosmith, yeah, though there was a brief few years when Perry and Whitford left the band.

So going by the Aerosmith rule - Motley Crue would apply also.

ZZtop and U2 are the only 2 bands that I can think of that actually have kept there original line-ups through their whole carreer (so far). Discounting changing drummers- the rule can apply to Judas Priest and Spinal Tap also  .

Just shows how hard it must be to keep a group of musicians on the same page for the extra long haul.

Actually there was a time when CC was replaced by Ritchie Kotzen and later by Blues Sarecino. But they have been going stron with their 'originals' for a LONG time.

If you want to go there...I recently heard that the rest of Culture Club intend to go on without Boy George to which I say "What's the point?"

Didn't they kick CC off the bus in the middle of a tour?

Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

I think only ZZ Top, King's X and U2 qualify.

The Police, too, I guess. They had a different guitarist before Andy Summers, but Andy's on every album so he may as well be the "original guitarist."

I dunno, the intent with original lineup, so far as the OP is concerned....I think, is what band is still together with the lineup they achieved success with.

Hell, If Night Ranger were still touring with Watson and Gerald....could you make the argument that the original players of this band were only Gillis and Blades and the other members of the band "Stereo"?

At what point is a band 'christened' as original.

Most people know Rush to have always been Peart, Lifeson and Lee. John Rutzy's involvement with the band is about as much a footnote as you can get....While the real hair-splitters will argue the band isn't in it's original incarnation, I think the flavor of the post is more to determine how many of these bands have stuck together in their 'famous lineup'....

To that end, Rush get's the nod from me. They've survived the bullshit and are still playing together, not fighting over money, power or fame. That's where it counts for me...

I think that was Kotzen. They literally threw him over a fence and drove away when they found out he was fucking Rikki Rocket's girl.

Does Fleetwood Mac qualify as an intact original lineup or must all surviving members still be in place?

I've been a Rush fan for 20+ years. It's not about hair-splitting, it's just about the facts. John Rutsey's the drummer on the first album (which I don't even own on CD, because I don't feel I need it). IIRC, he was in the band for years, so purely out of respect I wouldn't piss on him and throw him to the curb and call him a "footnote." OTOH, I don't wish there was another album like the first Rush album. Suffice it to say without Neil, Rush WOULD be a footnote in the back pages of Classic Rock 101.

"Famous line-up" and "original line-up" aren't necessarily the same, hence my original post.

How about Aerosmith? I believe they have the same guys that appeared on their first album. Most bands had other members before they actually made an album.

I would say that they are not original as only two orginal members are still in the band. If Christine McVie would rejoin they would have their most successful lineup, but not original.
