Pitt's an OK actor, not a great one. He's basically the same person in every film with a little accent changes. Sort of like Cruise.
Great actors lose themselves in the role.
Gary Oldman
Edward Norton (sometimes)
John Hurt
Young Robert DeNiro
Al Pacino
Anthony Hopkins
Sir Alec Guiness
Young Jack Nicholson
Mel Gibson
Chris Cooper

That's a hell of a list. Who is Chris Cooper though?

Michael Caine
Tom Hanks
Daniel Day Lewis

He's usually in the background and goes unnoticed but always good in his roles.

Agree on Daniel Day Lewis, Lemmon and RDjr. They should be in my list.
Depp is also good 'cept for the dreadful 2nd and 3rd pirate movies. Ok, I'll add him.
Tom Hanks was good in a few roles (Gump), Big and Streets. Blah in most others.
Can't stand Caine, guy just irks me.
Billy Bob is pretty good if the character's interesting. Slingblade was classic.

I think Tom Hanks was also excellent in Philidelphia, Saving Private Ryan & Cast Away.

Instead of talking about the GREAT actor Brad Pitt and the potential for this Tarantino movie, you'd rather discuss who the greatest actors are?![]()

I've only seen Sarsgaard in menacing roles and he's damn good in those. Close to being typecast though.

You laid down the gauntlet by saying Pitt is a GREAT actor. Shelley, come on.![]()
Back it up. What makes Pitt a "great" actor?

Yep! have to agree here. Not to take away from his other roles, but what i found amazing with Depp was watching all of the bloopers on the various Pirates movies, from Black Pearl straight through to At World's End. Even after screwing up a line (or someone else on set doing so), Depp stayed in character. That's what was truly amazing about him.
One scene in particular comes to mind. The scene where Jack and Beckett are on board the Endeavor, negotiating, after Sau Fang turned him in. At one point, Tom Hollander, the actor that portray's Beckett, cursed (after botching a scene). Depp looks at Hollander, still 100% completely in character as Jack Sparrow....and says "You can't curse in a Disney film, Mate!"
