Glad this type of thing didn't go on when Journey was playing at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View.

PDT MOUNTAIN VIEW -- Three people were hospitalized with stab wounds after a rowdy Saturday night on the concert lawn of the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View that prompted seven police agencies to respond, authorities said today.

A series of fights broke out during Kiss FM's Old School Fiesta, a concert featuring War, Brenton Wood, El Chicano, Lakeside and Trinere. It seemed, said Mountain View police spokeswoman Liz Wylie, that many guests came not for the music but to fight.

The doors opened at 5 p.m., and by 6:30 p.m. the venue's private security force was overwhelmed with fights on the lawn area, causing them to call in Mountain View officers to calm things down, Wylie said. No arrests were made then, but some visitors were kicked out.

Then, at about 9:30 p.m., the city cops were called back in after three people were stabbed by three separate assailants in a pair of melees on the grass, Wylie said. Fearing the violence might grow, she said, some officers wore riot gear, and six other police agencies were brought in as backup.

Shoreline officials turned up the lighting and ended the show early at 10:15 p.m. According to Wylie, no arrests were made - in part because the fights were chaotic and in part because "the victims aren't being cooperative. They don't want to be victims."

When I was there seeing Journey, there was a dude right next to me on the 4th row who wasn't supposed to be there, and he was drunk and kept taking flash photos. He kept drawing the security guard's attention and they must have warned him 4 times. I was getting ticked because I was afraid they'd discover that I didn't have a 4th row ticket either. I wanted to knife that jerk, so I can understand.
