No.

Sherriberry, we'll simply have to agree to disagree.

Whoa - that quote is from StocktonMalone not me!! I'm the one who said calling the current Journey
a tribute band seemed like a cheap shot.

No, no. I meant your argument, lol. We'll agree to disagree.
'Nothing was bigger for Journey than 1981’s “Escape” album. “I have to attribute that to Jonathan coming in and joining the writing team,” Steve Perry (Feb 2012).'

sorry--catching up with this kinda late.

Gun, it was a shortened set and worth every second. KH is incredible.

Okay, but I think we mostly agree  . Journey is an incredible band and each member is a talent in his own
right. I am looking forward to new music next year and seeing what kind of direction the band takes. For me I hope
that means a return to its Rock roots.

It will probably have more rock but I'm worried a good portion of it will be re-records of older material. A lot of AP fans are clamoring for him to sing some more of the older songs on the next album. I hope not. It will be a definite turnoff for me if they do that again.

Me too - I'd like to hear new material and not re-records. I already have the greatest hits. The re-records have something to do with the fact that Sony owns the masters, but if they re-record the songs they get a better percentage as a new release. Herbie explained it in Andrew's interview with him. I can understand the initial transitional phase with Arnel, covering the classics, but it would be nice to see them move forward. What are the chances of a live album too?

He took ownership of the stage and Mick stayed out of the way. Long black unruly hair, lanky figure, ugly grill, he looks like a rockstar. Somethings that impressed me were that when he was singing, he wasn't trying to emulate Lou Gramm. He just sang with his natural voice which sound like Gramm's but is easily recognized a someone else. Kelly also didn't scream or clip the high notes, but stepped them down smoothly the few times he had to.
.

I saw Foreigner last year(?) and Kelly was awesome. He did a great job covering the Lou songs and did a Zep or two. Hopefully it will not be long before the new cd is out.
Within the past few weeks, I have gotten all of Hurricane's cds, very good, but they sound dated in parts, and happened upon Kelly doing Seperate Ways and another Journey song (I think). Plus singing Styx' The Grand Illusion and Fooling Yourself. He did a stand up job on all of them.

Hansen is good yes but doesn't stand out to me. The one new song sounds like Maroon 5 more than Foreigner. That's not necessarily Hansen's fault though.

Mick Jones (the Frederick Frankenstein of rock, with hair and glasses to match) has lost his creativity imo.

Hopefully they'll do a full cd of new tunes with Hansen so I can give him a fair shake. I personally thought Johnny Edwards was a better fit but what do I know.

Can ya tell I miss the old Gramm? :)

Disc two of Revelation might have something to do with it. If Foreigner had did that, 6 months after Kelly joined the band there could have been a similar backlash. Not Arnels fault of course. Foreigner would have been bashed hard, cashing in on Lou's Legacy (and you probably would have been leading the charge, rightfully so of course).

Agreed - at least someone in that camp was smart enough not to go there.

When the radio stops playing Classic Journey three times a day people just might. I have yet to hear a song on terrestrial radio that Journey recorded after TBF. I know there are occasional songs played from Revelation but the classic stuff gets so many spins by so many different stations, anything new barely gets noticed.

I understand that but I'm not bothered. The only Journey I ever hear in England is DSB but I know that there are so many other amazing songs out there with and after Perry.

I see where the majority of British fans appear to be huge Augeri fans which I think is pretty cool.

I chat here sometimes and they give the impression that they really love S.A.

Dont really chat to many British Journey fans in person. But I was certainly a fan anyway. Maybe British fans are more open to newer Journey because they didnt see Classic Journey all over the place in the 80s.. who knows.

You hit the nail on the head. They were the first concert aired on MTV and they just took off from there. All we talked about in High School was when their next single would be relased or next video aired or when they were coming to town. With no internet, you had to really listen to the radio or be glued to MTV to get any news, it was a lot of fun though. When I went to Japan in 84, they were just starting to peter out a bit but even there, every one knew Steve perry even if they didn't know anyone else in the band. By 87 though Journey was dead over there as Bon Jovi and Aerosmith just exploded all over the place.

Funny there is not one album from those 3 bands that I really like.. but each have brought out some of my favourite songs of all time.
