Just heard about this -- the worst celeb death news I've seen all year. Really a shame. I still remember that old Kung Fu episode where someone shoots him with a wicked looking arrow and he has to walk around with it for the whole episode. Would love to see that one again.

In a 2004 interview which may have foretold his death, Carradine said: "I remember one time sitting in the window of the third or fourth floor of the Plaza Hotel for about an hour, thinking about just tipping off. And that was at a time when I was having more fun than you could imagine.

"I just thought, 'Who the ---- cares, man? Why don't I just split?' Of course I didn't, so there you go."

The actor, star of cult 1970s television series Kung Fu, said he had also considered shooting himself.

"Look, there was a period in my life when I had a single action Colt 45, loaded, in my desk drawer. And every night I'd take it out and think about blowing my head off, and then decide not to and go on with my life. Put it back in the drawer and open up the laptop and continue writing my autobiography or whatever. But it was just to see."

He told the entertainment website IGN.com: "I'm not afraid of anything. Why would you be afraid of death? It would be an inconvenience. I have a lot of undone things and it's bound to get in the way. But, no, it doesn't scare me at all."

He is survived by his wife, Annie Bierman, and four children.

Stupid. For countless fans including myself, everytime they see his films or Kung Fu, they have to connect him committing suicide to it.

Not to mention his kids and family. What a loser.

It's really strange that he would have agreed to do a film and traveled there and then decided to commit suicide there.

 R.I.P. David. The Long Riders is one of my favorite films, and Death Race 2000 is one of my favorite '70s movies!

Yeah, this was a shocker to me today reading this news. Kung Fu was definitely my favorite tv program from the time I was around 5 until I was about 14. I took up martial arts at that time in my life I think primarily cause of what I saw on that show. As for where it happened, there are lots of very strange things that go on in Thailand. He may have gotten ahold of some really bad drugs or was a victim of some sort of weird crime. I've been to Thailand more times then I can remember and every so often we'd have a wacko dude walking up out of the jungle in jungle boots, tattoos, long hair, asking if we wanted to buy some drugs. What struck me oddly about it is when this would happen, it would be foreigners only, from Australia, New Zealand and perhaps Europe. None of them would be locals or people who were from that country. They were all white men with accents different from the U.S. So drugs may have also played some factor in this incident, either brought on by Carradine taking some or someone involved in trying to sell him some. Drugs are a huge problem there and that's why places like Thailand and in Laos, people get the death penalty by firing squad if they are caught trafficing them (reference the Brit in Laos who was recently spared the death penalty simply cause she's pregnant).

Thought that too but his talk of wanting to off himself has me thinking he did it.

I thought that too... I was just talking to someone about that earlier... I can barely watch Richard Jeni for that reason... he was one of my favorite comedians, and now if I see the old specials, or hear him on the comedy channel, all I can think is "wow, this guy blew himself away while his girlfriend was in the other room making breakfast." :(

This is really sad and weird.

The rumor now is that it was auto-erotica....much the same way Michael Hutchenson (sp?) of INXS supposedly died.

My guess is that we find out in a few weeks he was dying of something, or had early onset alzheimers and he went to Thailand for one last blowout and to check himself out.
Very sad either way.

I didn't think of that. My cousin died from that and it happened in the closet also. I was in my teens and it was kept very hush-hush how he died.

From the news report I just heard, his friends are saying the same thing.

Tragic and stupid ... And I would say the same thing if it was in fact suicide.

This is very sad news. I just loved the show Kung Fu and David was a great actor. Me and my mom use to watch Kung Fu in the early 70's. She loved that show too. Oh wow bummer....

Kung Fu was fucking stupid (even though I did watch it  ) and those mindless Kill Bill movies blew horse cock. He should have been killed for those stupid fucking movies. I hope Bruce Lee is whipping his ass.

Apparently Carradine was really into Asian medicine... couldn't he have just gotten some "Vee Aaa Gra".... and left it at that?

It's Hutchence - and that rumor was not supported by the coroner's report - it was officially ruled suicide.
