Yeah the welcome mat is out once 0again.....just make sure you agree with them.....that makes them happy!

Boy, are THEY in for a suprise. Anyway, nice to see you, portland. 500,000 = Gold. 1,000,000 = Platinum. Some people don't know how to do math!!

We know how to do math. RIAA has certified Revelation platinum. Each disc in a pack counts, so with Revelation having 2 music discs, 500,000 albums sold still equals 1,000,000 discs sold, hence the platinum status. Trickfuckery at it's best, some will say.

Exactly. 8)

The rules are the rules. They just play by them. Besides, Journey recording Journey seems all good to me. :)

I guess it takes all kinds...........

Oh yes here it does.......and rules are overrated!!!! 8)

Portland,

You and I BOTH know that a multiple cd unit is a technicality in and of itself. The package itself (no matter how many cds are included) is just one unit. Maybe that's the only way that AP will be able to make a dent singing with Journey. Maybe he should be allowed THAT much (I'm sure Neal would agree).
It doesn't matter what you say, because I'm ALWAYS right!!!! LOL!!

lol...2 years ago Journey was a bunch of "evil and greedy" people. Fast forward 2 years and they give the fans a tremendous package at a great price and we're talking about "technicalities." It's sold 750,000 units, debuted at #5 and was in the Top 40 for like 15 weeks. That's awfully impressive and no amount of spin doctoring can negate that.

AbsoF'inglutely. It also recieved good reviews across the board. I ignore the Platinum title. When they hit a million I'll go there. But I wouldn't turn it down by Journey if I were them either. But 750,0000 CDs from a 30 year old band with a new singer is something for them to be happy about.

That's why I don't buy the argument about a new era in music and how older groups wont sell. AC-DC released Black Ice in October, it was certified 2X Platinum November 20. If you put out a package people want, they will buy it.

Of course Wal-Mart Keeping it in stock is another issue.

Where are these 250k discs (125k packages) going to come from to make it 2X Platinum. Wal-Mart?

That's a great question, GB. They're gonna have to sell a shitload at each concert to cross the double platinum threshold. Seems to me that they have a major distribution problem right now. Which makes them playing 6 Revelation songs that much more impressive.

I think they're happy enough at platinum. If they force Wal-Mart's hand on this, they might have to run another 500k and eat what they don't sell.

Time to get ready for the next album.

I disagree. They're making almost 7 dollars per unit sold. That's enough motivation to move more packages!

For them, sure. Interesting to see what store is doing the Foreigner Package. It's got to be Wal-Mart, The criteria matches Journey's exactly.

Go ahead and ignore the "platinum" title! LOLOLOL!!! How convenient!! Even though all those units (not platinum) were bought by people living in Manila..........it could be triple platinum (in "everybody's" eyes..........everybody? Obviously NOT) and still not mean a thing. Anything with AP in it cannot be considered a "tremendous package", unless you're talking about a load of bullshit. "And no amount of spin doctoring" that you do on this issue will change that. Oh!! And have a nice day.

P.S. Anybody going to one of "journey's" concerts this summer? See you at the fair!!!

Peace.

Well, well. A troublemaker?

First, let me applaud you on your grasp of the immediate, balls-to-the-wall, cocky douchebag personality. It's not exactly original, but never does quite get old, does it? Also adds enough tenor to give your posts that much needed flair.

You win five points.

Second, you were humbled by the quote function.

You lose ten points.

I actually am on the same page, I don't hate AP, I think he is very talented...but the whole find somone who sounds like Perry crap, is the thing that gets me, hire a singer and go a different direction, don't re-record the songs that I remember from high school and expect me as a fan to like it, I don't!!!

I don't understand it......the people who say that I hate AP, I don't even know the guy!!! and yes he is good and is working his ass off, but he still has problems with his delivery of the songs from what I have seen. Neal just thinks that everyone will accept the replacement and some just won't...he should have left it alone.

That being said, I have ordered the CD and I am going to listen to it.....both CD's that way I can come here and know that I have given it a chance...I won't be attending a concert as for me I like the old songs in my memory bank the way they are....I guess you can call me too sentimental (go ahead!)

I would like to see SA with his new band....I really like his voice now and would love to experience him live.

I think that JSS is extreamly talented.....and he got a raw deal, yes I know shit happens...right

I don't know, we will all never agree on this one, and that is one thing I know for sure!, but I will also try to express my opinion in a appropriate way as Andrew has asked me to

What's-his-face isn't saying that, though, Portland. The vast majority of this forum are of the "We prefer Steve Perry" mentality. I'm one of them. The thing is how you communicate it.

This guy, on the other hand, seems to be going off the deep end. "I'm not an Arnel hater per se just a sound alike hater in general."

That doesn't mean he doesn't hate Arnel.

Edit: And for clarification, "hating" any of these guys -- even Darth SPidious -- is retarded.

Left what alone, Portland? Neal did not make the decision for Perry to leave the band. Neal did not cause Augeri's voice to fail. He nipped a non fit for Journey in the bud before it went too far. He did not just hire a sound alike. While AP can parrot almost any singer, he has his own unique voice and style and unless you are hearing impared, he maintains the sound that Journey is known for. Isn't that the point of Journey going on and continuing to please thousands of fans at each gig they play? So, if Neal had just left it alone, it would have spelled epic failure for the band and they would not be having the kind of success they are having now. So, should the whole band have just retired????

I don't understand it......the people who say that we hate AP, I don't even know the guy!!! and yes he is good and is working his ass off, but he still has problems with his delivery of the songs from what I have seen.

I don't know, we will all never agree on this one, and that is one thing I know for sure!

I can agree with everything you said except that. By lipsyncing, the situation did go too far. If RollingStone didn't have enough ammunition to keep them out of the HOF, that was a fucking X-Mas present for them right there.

You guys are right, I shouldn't have called him a Loon. That's an insult to you and to me actually, since I do have my Loony moments. What the guy is (judging from his post's so far) is an Arnel hater trying to stir up sh*t.

For clarification, you realize that statement was regarding JSS, not SA, right? I like JSS, just not with Journey. I still think Neal did the right thing, as painful as it was for JSS and the fans. I don't agree with the kind of tact, or lack thereof in the way it was handled, but it's over now. We can either choose to enjoy what we have now or disengage. I still enjoy the music, old and new.

OMG. So, you don't think AP is a sound-a-like? Puh-leeze!! I'm still waiting for AP's "unique voice and style". When has he EVER displayed THAT?? You must be deaf. I guess its a good thing for VanHalen that Sammy didn't seek to "maintain" the VanHalen sound, thus making them GREATER as a result. Otherwise, they'd be up the same river that Journey is. Journey shouldn't be sacrificing their collective soul to please the pittance of AP followers they have now compared to what they had with SP. Epic failure? THEY'RE EXPERIENCING IT NOW!!! The only reason they're getting any attention AT ALL is because of the singer that made them famous. Looking at where they were when SP joined, the band WOULD NOT EXIST NOW. AP is riding the coattails of SP and the fame that made them famous. Period. Should the whole band have just retired? Without SP fronting them? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace.

HELL NO!!!!

I've been to several concerts since SP left, and two with SP btw, and I'm glad they didn't retire.

Certainly, SP was my favorite singer they had, and my favorite singer period, but Journey were started by Herbie, Gregg and Neal to try to be successful, and they made it. That's all they try to continue to be, and they are. Arnel did nothing but accept a dream job and is keeping the legacy going.

As far as Sammy and Van Halen, that was in a completely different musical climate. It may have worked for Journey then had they switched to someone different and gone in a different direction, but it wouldn't work for either band now.

One thing lost in all this is the fact that AP has been singing SP tunes for probably like 10 to 15 years. This is not a case where he has just jumped in and started from scratch. He sounds probably as good doing them as anybody could while he has tamed his words time and time again im sure. Is he SP, is anybody SP, doesn't take a village idiot to figure that one out. But all in all, he's pretty good and what Journey needs to keep the wheels turning.

Sigh..... I can't debate you; you're too deluded. There is a difference between being a sound alike and being able to sound like someone. Have you even listened to Revelation, man? Well, have you? WITTW does not sound like Steve Perry and proves that Arnel does have his own unique voice and has used it. What about Wildest Dream? No Perry sound alike there either. What about What I Needed? You're the one who can't fucking hear. You're the one who joined here with an agenda. Has it occurred anywhere in that thick skull of yours that the majority of the fans want to hear the dirty dozen in their original key? Arnel can do that, so fucking what? It makes people happy. That doesn't make him a copy cat, as you would have us all to believe. Arnel puts on a show on stage. His energy rouses the crowds. How can you be in denial of that success? I'd also like to see this epic failure they so supposedly, according to you, GARP, are experiencing.

I checked in Japan. Sorry I don't see it.
I checked in Manila. Nope..sorry, I still don't see it.
I checked in Hawaii and couldn't find this failure of yours there either.
Hmmm, Macau? Nope, fans were loving it there too.
Sacramento? Great turnout there.
Sweden was ecstatic, as was Norway.

Peace back to your trolling ass.

One thing that upsets me about the interview. When talking about the band, Neal goes on to say that when hirng Arnel, that they instantly caught that magic and had a magical feeling that it all just clicked right away. (TRUE.)

BUT, he said that was the first time they've had that since the departure of Perry. Even though that is slightly true, Steve A did some great things during his tenure. That comment doesn't do Steve Augeri justice. Augeri kept the flame going, and did a helluva job for 8 solid years with the team. That is kind of a slap in the face IMO. He not only brought in a newer fan base, but kept the hardcore ones clinging on for the ride. Neal could of at least recommended Augeri some "sugar" for his devotion and dedication to his band. (As they like to call it.)

Did anyone pick up on Arnel's ploy to "re-pay" Friga on the bus? I'm shocked stevew wasn't all over that.
