OT: New Chickenfoot release

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned anything about the new Chickenfoot release. I bought it this past weekend at Best Buy for $9.99. They also have a double vinyl album for $19.99 and inside is a code for a one-time download with bonus. I haven’t done that yet so don’t know what that all entails. The new CD contains 11 songs. About half are kick ass and the other half are average. What is really cool is the CD package was printed with what is described as: "A non-toxic heat-sensitive ink which changes appearance above and below 84 degrees". So when you touch it with your fingertips, it lightens up.

The song they performed on the Tonight Show was the worst song on the CD in my opinion – “Oh Yeah”. What was cool was the fact that after their performance, Joe Satriani gave his guitar (with Chickenfoot logo on it) to Conan.

I'm going to grab the CD this week sometime. The music is so great, this is one of the coolest ideas in recent music happenings.
Chickenfoot is exactly what the scene needed. A healthy dose of good old-fashioned kickass.

i think the bonus download is "bitten by the wolf" which is a swampy, bluesy kinda song, a direction sammy says he's like to see the band head towards for maybe a ep of hard blues. this song is also available as a bonus on itunes. itunes has the 12 days of chickenfoot podcast for download where they talk about each song. kinda cool addition for "people of the foot".

Just bought it yesterday on my lunch break and been playing it since. Great cd. Favorites are: Sexy Little Thing (see sig youtube), Get It Up, Soap On A Rope and Down The Drain.

Think I actually made a sale too. I didn't buy it at Bestbuy, I bought it at a record store downtown so wasn't sure if they'd have it or not. When I asked one of the guy's if they had the "Chickenfoot" cd. He said "the what cd?". He was looking it up and asking if it was all one word or not. He then saw they had it and said "Wow....Hagar, Smith....how did I not know about this. Thanks!". And went and grabbed me one.

Been living with the CD since Firday and have not stopped listening. I love it. Good mix of stuff. Much better drumming than Van Halen, in my opinon. Really great stuff.

I cannot believe how good Sammy sounds at his age. Amazing.

I've been listening to this for 3 weeks now... Fan-Friggin-Tastic release to say the least. I always hear something new with each spin. Yes... Sammy is 62 and still sounds great.

Satriani is the best thing about the album.
Sammy is still an overgrown 60 year old manchild singing about "coochies" and budweiser ass tattoos.
Choruses could be alot stronger, but Satch lays down some really great grooves.
If Neal had stayed on (back when it was PlanetUs), I think the writing would've been much stronger, but overall, I'm happy with it.
It seems the only track that is left over from the PlanetUs sessions is "Learning to Fall."

For some reason I thought, I wonder if he’s ever walked out with an acoustic guitar and sang something to one person. So I wrote this song…I think it was called Open Your Heart to Love. [Revived for Chickenfoot], the song had all this promise, but I knew I didn’t want this to be a power ballad…. Then I overwhelmed these guys with all the possibilities.” Sammy: “That’s true. There was a Pink Floyd version, an early Peter Gabriel version, a Nickel Creek kind of version and then there was a Journey/Styx/REO Speedwagon kind of version. Then we kind of settled on, Let’s do an R&B Otis Redding kind of version…. In the end we just kind of went back to how the song really felt right.”

That pretty much sums it up. What in the world were they thinking with trite material like 'Oh Yeah', and on the tonight show?!? There are definitely some good jams on the album, but it could've been so much better with some well written 'hooks'. Some of the songs could've been a little shorter too , if they really wanted radio play.

I would be really surprised if this album does anything (besides give a bunch of classic rock fans an excuse to buy a new album and to see a good live show). Mixed feelings, because I think everyone involved is really talented...They just don't have a seasoned product here, sorry. Production quality is great however.

Too bad Green Day did the same thing a week before. What I liked was Chad in a wig wearing a shirt that said "I am not Will Ferrell". I died laughing because he TOTALLY looks like Will's twin!!

The performance was a little weak, seemed to be missing a little energy. But I am really excited by what I have heard from the band. And it was so cool to see guys of that stature on TV!!

I got this CD today. I've only listened to it once but so far I am liking it.

They are doing a free show at the RNR Hall of Fame in August so I'm looking forward to checking them out!!

Picked it up today. Just had a chance to give it a spin and I'm diggin' it...rockin' guitar from Satriani and Sammy sounds as good as ever...Anthony and Smith...all good!
Went to BestBuy first in my area and it was soldout...had to go to a couple more stores to find it so congratulations to the band if it's been selling out in other areas of the country too.

Dang it..no Texas shows. Hopefully they'll add at least one to the schedule.
