I know that he's always done Mother, Father.

I have a boot that Deen sang 4 oldies on. Back when they were doing the long shows, I think it is Konocti? Patiently, La Do Da, Where Were You and one other one, can't remember it off the top of my head.

You hear that 78? Some pre-Escape love right there.

Yep! :D

Deb, can you post it Please? Please?

Sure. I just checked and the other one is Something To Hide. Show is from 05 - Julyish. Not sure what is up with SA but he sounds like he's got laryngitis or something for the first few songs, voice keeps cracking, almost looks like it hurts. Especially on Feeling That Way singing with Jon. :( But he gets better as the show progresses.

lol...I just have no use for the pre-Escape Perry vocals. You can keep the Mariah Carey Journey years. Total shit vocally. And thank God Jon Cain came into the picture to redirect that awful songwriting.

Anyway my point is it all seems pretty gray - but from the sounds of things Arnel is sounding pretty darn good on what hes been singing and I know that Deen sends shivers down my spine when he sings MOther, Father. Roles notwithstanding, what seems to be going on at the moment is working, so keep it up

I think as band leaders go, on the stage Cain seems to be the conducting everything. Off stage, it's apparently Neal's baby, through and through.

Well I'll agree with you on the early vocals, much prefer the frontiers and forward, more raw richer vocals. But how on earth can you say it's shit vocally? Live, Perry absolutely slays that song......not one of my favorite Journey songs, but he is vocally stunning here...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NA0exiQOnk

Considering Deen has that same gritty sound as Perry due to years of wear and tear and the aging process, why not let him sing the songs that he can sound closer than Arnel on. It's also refreshing that there seems to be no egos in the band.

Did I seriously just read that? Jon Cain's writing reads like horrible sappy wedding poetry and it's probably the main reason I don't like Revelation. The one song I do like on there, surprise!... he had help on the lyrics.

How many pre-Cain songs are on greatest hits? There were three huge steps in the climb Journey took. The first was Neal forming the band, the second was the addition of Steve Perry and the third was the addition of Jon Cain. He brought their 2 biggest ballads (OA and Faithfully) and was the chief choreographer to the most downloaded song in history (DSB). And remember, the sequencing in DSB has been stolen over and over and over. Arguably, half of the music world owes Jon Cain royalties.

Ok, so it's the most downloaded good song! I'll tell you what, pretty much all of the 41 songs in front of it are very modern and will fade fast. DSB will continue to sell and climb that chart. It's destined for the top 5 in a few years.

This is probably a dumb question, but I am of the belief that there are no dumb questions so here it goes....

Are both versions there to download? SP and AP? I don't use Itunes so I don't know....just did not know if fans get a choice?

It's a fucking fantastic song and the only tune I actually know above it on the list it is Bleeding Heart by Leona Lewis. Of course, the rest of the stuff wil fall by the wayside as DSB stays evergreen.
I saw it used as one of many points of debate with Sycophant and decided the facts needed to be put out so no one has it thrown in their face later.

As far as I can tell, you can only download the retreads from Wal-Mart as they are exclusive to that store. Or you could always torrent it if copyright isn't an issue for you.

FOUR including their first top 20 hit. They had already started their epic climb with Evolution and esp. Departure before Cain showed up. He doesn't get all the credit.
