Just checked AP's site and it's not up yet. Mother, Father is though, but it's a short clip.

I'd like to see both, but I'm not sure throwing "Suzanne" in would mesh with Neal's vaunted 'new direction'.

What new direction is this...just asking?

A harder rock version.

Yeah they tried this 'New Direction' crap with that abomination called 'Generations'. Look what happened there, it sold 10 fuckin copies worldwide. Don't these boneheads realise you can't just change direction and expect the fans that have bought the releases for 30 years, to carry on buying the things if its a different sound. They made their money playing and composing the stuff they still write and perform today. They are too fuckin old and stupid to be attempting something 'New' (Again).

I think you're misintepreting what they mean. They're going to stay within the framework of what they do, but they're gonna spice up the album with an extra 2 or 3 Separate Ways, Edge Of The Blade, Change For The Better type songs. I think what you'll see is one less ballad and one less mid tempo song to compensate for the addition of the 2 harder rocking songs. It won't be a drastic change, and it'll be a commercial risk because ballads and mid tempo numbers have been the band's bread and butter for 25+ years. I say good on them.

In one of the chats, Arnel mentioned that he's been listening to lots Journey songs (practicing? :D).

He even mentioned that he loves the quality of SP's voice....very distinctive in his opinion.

So we'll probably hear a lot more. :D

Portland, for your information, Arnel never, ever uttered any negative words towards SP. That's the kind of person he is.

She's still pissed that Journey replaced a few singers and chose to go on, apparently. Also it's very clear that for whatever reason, she has more than just a passing dislike for AP.

I have NEVER said that I don't like AP as a person.....I just don't like the music that they have put out with him....and that is my opinion...I do like the songs that Deen has taken on he sounds really great IMO....I know you don't feel the same and that is fine with me.....just don't cram your opinion down my throat.

I was just checking out those vids from Oslo and there's one with Jonathan on the harp and Neal on mandolin doing the end of Precious Time. Did they do the whole song? I love that song.

Which has what to do with your comment? He paid tribute to Perry and you... roll your eyes? Maybe he should attack Perry, instead. But I have a feeling that you wouldn't like that either.

You know I watched all those Oslo videos of Arnel singing posted here. It just occurred to me what it is about
Arnel's singing the Journey songs as compared to Steve Perry singing the Journey songs, and why I prefer SP's singing
over Arnel. The bottom line for me is that when Steve Perry sings the songs his voice moves me in my heart and soul, his passion
as he sings the song can be felt in the heart and soul of the listener. When I hear Perry sing the songs, almost ANY song he sings,
his voice touches me deeply and can take my breath away, make me sit down during a busy day and just listen in awe. When
I see Perry running and jumping on the stage in videos, as he sings, his actions seem so natural to me, not staged, just pure passion and glee
as he is singing. His enthusiasm is infectious. I do not feel anything when Arnel sings the very same songs. I'm bored. I think
it is because he is impersonating SP right down to wearing all white clothes and copying gestures of SP. I am only stating my opinion, and I do not mean to offend
Arnel supporters. I think Arnel is doing the job he was hired to do and doing the best he can do. I don't wish for Perry to get back with Journey, and I'm not hanging
onto the old days of Perry and Journey. I'm only saying why I prefer Perry's singing and why I think Arnel is not even in the same ballpark
with Perry in terms of connecting with the listener when he sings.

Want to know what's gets real old? Is when you and Madsplash constantly display your Perry opinions in threads that have nothing to do with Perry...

Let me spell it out to you....If someone wants to sing the praises of Augeri w/ Journey, JSS w/ Journey, or Arnel w/Journey, we really don't need to be reminded on how great Perry was.

Perry is GONE....Fucking get over it.

Start all the Perry threads you want...This forum celebrates past, present, and future Journey.....

But for the love of GOD, can you stop trying to derail a thread that praises Post-Perry Journey.

And as far as your quote "I just don't like the music that they have put out with him" , I call bullshit ..... If it was Perry, back in Journey, singing the very same songs, arranged the same way, with the same lyrics, you'd be praising it like it was the greatest comeback in musical history.

you need to get laid, homes .... All this pent up aggression...

maybe you should go and rub one out to a Perry picture from either

1. when he wore silk shirts, tied them in a knot, and looked like a woman

2. a Raised On Radio picture with his butch/lesbian hairstyle.

Everything you say here is true. The problem is Perry is the 800lb gorilla in the room where post-Perry Journey is concerned. There will always be an inclination to compare and contrast the Perry era against the post-Perry era. Is it fair to the post-Perry lead singers? Well, yes and no. But it's unavoidable. Post-Perry Journey will never be able to out run the shadow (or the stink some may call it) of Steve Perry. That is, after all, the legacy they claim to want to preserve.

Do you... have a problem?

She's still pissed that Journey replaced a few singers and chose to go on, apparently. Also it's very clear that for whatever reason, she has more than just a passing dislike for AP.

I have NEVER said that I don't like AP as a person.....I just don't like the music that they have put out with him....and that is my opinion...I do like the songs that Deen has taken on he sounds really great IMO....I know you don't feel the same and that is fine with me.....just don't cram your opinion down my throat.

I don't agree with you....but hey it sounds like your the one with the agression problem not me.....

What do you not agree with ?

Are you saying that it's ok to come in and derail threads that have nothing to do with Steve Perry?

Are you saying it's ok to state your opinion over and over and over again in NON Perry threads ?

Tell me professor, what do you not agree with?
