Does it end with a garden hose, a pair of boxers hanging from a street lamp, a bag of gummy bears and a chihuahua?

I think I heard that one too.

Nope, heard someone threw a bag on stage and Steve showered his head with them while singing the Frito Bandito song.................always wondered if that one was true or not!

Your story sounds more interesting! LOL! Poor Chihauhua!

No, the chihuahua was the hero. To this day, Neal can't so much as look at one.

Dallas Texas. 1986 ROR tour. CP & I are backstage in the band's dressing room doing an interview with Jon & Neal for the journey force newsletter. SP, RJ & MB are dressed and ready for the show and have left the dressing room before we get there. The opening act is on stage. The noise is awful and it's hard to hear so Jon shuts the door. That only helps for a minute as people keep opening the door and sticking their heads in. We finally decide to lock the door so we can get the interview done in relative quiet.

A few minutes later, we hear furious pounding on the door. Jon opens it and there stands SP, whom we had locked out of the dressing room. The band members had a secret knock they used when they encountered locked doors backstage & at the hotel. It consisted of a single loud thump. Apparently SP was doing the secret knock but no one heard it because of the bass drum noise from the opening band. Someone whispers "uh-oh" and we laugh nervously. Steve's face looks like a thunder cloud. CP & I didn't know him well back then so figured we were both dead. Luckily it's time for the band to go on stage, so everyone heads out.

Fast forward to around midnight. Concert is over and CP & I have made our way back to the hotel. We are trying to get in the elevator to go to our room but find that all the elevators have been disabled by security as the band members are on their way. We try to hide behind a potted plant, but SP sees us & motions us into the elevator with a "we need to talk" look on his face. We end up in the elevator with SP, Smokey (Journey's head of security), and Steve's friend and writing buddy, Randy Goodrum. After some discussion, he invites everyone to his room where we do one of our best Journey Force interviews with him, and then chow down on Mexican food until 3am.

Who knew that locking one door would open another.

LB & CP

Thanks Lora... what a great story... would it be possible to post the Journey Force interviews you did that evening?
Thanks Again....

I'm sure I still have copies of the newsletters in the archives somewhere but it would involve me having to transcribe them and I'm waaaaaay too lazy for that. I think there might be some fan sites that have posted some of the Force newsletter interviews.

Yeah, they're my neighbors & when Steve comes to visit he's always taking my parking space. That rat! And so I said to him one day, "Perry, you'd better move your car right this minute or I'm calling the police" and so Steve said, "Oh yeah, Jason. You & who's army?" --- and then it was on!!!! Out came the brass knuckles & the billy clubs!!! It was just like West Side Story. LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!

Don't hit me. I'm just makin' a little funny. You said Michigan. I couldn't resist.

OCE text recognition software is pretty common (my portable scanner came with it) - scan your text and it transcribes to a word doc for you. Just saying ;)

(Hey, if you want to post the copies to me in Australia, I'll do it for you!   )
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

I'm sure you are a very busy person, but any bedtime story you post in the future will be very much appreciated, I'm sure of that.

Great story, but this is typical garbage. Bullhorn bullshit. Plain and simple. Trying to justify ROR and/or TBF with feel good stories just reeks. Fuck his new album and the 20+ years of bullshit that he put rational fans of the old rocking Journey through. This dude ruined Journey....period.
