Journey in Southern California

Does anyone know if Journey will be in Southern California performing on the 29th and 30th of this month or perhaps next month? My wife and I drove down to San Diego last weekend and I swear I saw a billboard sign saying this while we were on I-15 right around Temecula. I'd like to check them out if they are down there doing some show.

Yes, they are playing two shows in Pala Casino on the 29th and 30th of July. Pala Casino is only 5 miles east of I-15 in the Southern Temecula and the northern part of San Diego County. It should be a blast, can't wait...

i have to admit, i'm curious to see the band with arnel. at this point in my life tho, 90 bucks for a concert ticket is not a priority. i love casino shows too. those that go will no doubt have a great time.

Agreed. They are doing great in Europe, and most people from Sweden and Ireland festival considered Journey as top performer or one of the shows highlight

i haven't seen a clip that has impressed me. i've not been wowed at all by arnel. i do, however, love the band and the music. i won't spend any money to see them at this point tho. been there, done that, got burned lol

I'm a Perry / Journey fan myself, yet I'd like to see them play just once with Arnel but that's mostly because I'm a concert whore. I'd like to see them play no matter who was fronting the band. Deen's voice is perfect for Mother / Father & Neal is still the God of all guitarist, IMHO.

Plus, I figure I might get lucky & be on the receiving end of all that bong passing you guys were talking about earlier.

Journey sounds great and is going strong and on a roll. A lot of my favorite bands peaked years ago but I still love hearing them live and their new music. Hey, U2 is a bit of a miss with their new album, but I still love it in places and appreciate the effort.

It'll be a nice intimate affair, I'm sure, and I could understand $45-50, IF you're a fanboy (which by hell I'm not), but $90???? So it's a C-note after the service charge?

There are a lot of bands charging as much as Azoff is for shows. Journey is just one many bands in that mid to uppper tier doing well.
It seems the bigger sponsor you can get, the better the prices are. U2 prices are very reasonable, one of the reasons there stadium shows sold out instantly. $35 might not sound like a lot of profit for the band but multiply that by capacity of 100,000 in one venue and it changes everything. Def Leppard, Aerosmith, AC-DC, all are charging the same as Journey, playing the amphitheater circuit and doing well. Bon Jovi even had 100 sellouts last summer so no slouch there either. You just have to choose who you want to see. For me, last summer was Journey and Iron Maiden, this year will be Def Leppard and a few lower profile artists.
Pat Benatar and CW are the only one's I'll pay to see annually but to each his own.
And Heart's always a bargain if they're by themselves.

Especially since I have not been into Journey since the 80’s, really. Journey is great and I love that the men still play, but it would be hard for me to hear a sound that evokes memories from long ago without the entire package. Example: The Stones have been dead for 20 years, yet they still rock on with Jagger! Yeap, the same skeletal remains grace those stages and people are grateful to support them. That is what I had hoped to have with Journey with Perry, but it did not come to pass. So, I listen to their old music with Perry and I am fine with that. Course, I still wish Perry would continue to sing, but I also wish I was 25, smart and had a longer waist so that when I sit down my boobies don’t fall into my crotch!

I guess we're fans of nostagia. But its not like we're stuck in the past with everything. You were with us to see Trev Lukather, it's not like we're against seeing anything new and sit at home and pout. If Neal is the reason you are into Journey than the argument doesn't hold water, but if it's about that particular lineup and that place in time, I get it completely.
