Hey Jason, Spears Creek is a band I was in back in 2003. I joined after they had written 5 songs. I wrote and co-wrote the rest of the album, and we went into the studio on and off for 6 months. I'm a keyboardist, and I also sang most of the backing vocals for the cd. The band put a lot of trust in me, and I did most of the mixing and producing also. It was a very cool experience, and I learned a LOT from it. :D

If you're not familiar with me, I also played with Frontiers for about 8 months. You wouldn't know by the youtube clips or anyting posted on the website, but I WAS in the band. It was a cool experience, and I had some very cool gigs. I decided to quit partially so that I could go back to spending more time working on original music and working towards completing my own solo cd. Hard to write or record when you're spending your weekends on the road!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy some of these tunes! I don't write country anymore, and if you'd like to hear my main project, just go to www.myspace.com/jimrykbost . Hope you like my stuff! :D take care.

Very smooth, Jim. Your music is a little more mellow than what I'm accustomed to but very well done, nevertheless. I mean to say that your music is less rockaholic than I prefer, but not depressing by any means. It definately sounds professional. That song you wrote, played & recorded by yourself----mad props, dude. You've got a great singing voice!! Very talented indeed. Thanks for the post. I enjoyed it. And when all these sleepy heads wake up tommorrow morning & check out your post, I'm sure you'll get a lot of positive feedback. I'm signing off for the nite, Jim. I'm exhausted. C-ya.

Thanks man! I really appreciate it. I don't EVER proclaim myself as a lead singer though. I surround myself with others that can do it much better than me. All of the songs you hear on my myspace page have Alex Mark Scott from Italy on lead vocals. He and I have been working on this project for a very long time together. I'm also working on a couple of other projects that you'll hear about soon. Have a great night!

I agree with Jason. You have a much better singing voice than you give yourself credit for. Thanks for posting these Jimbo, all very good songs.

Thanks Rick, but I know my limitations. I may be able to sing in pitch (most of the time!), but I have a hard time sounding like I'm puting any emotion into a song. I should really take some vocal lessons one of these days! I just try to sing the melody well enough for other singers to hear my general ideas for the songs. They always take it to the next level, so I've decided to stick to that formula.

Not yet. I sent Michael my new recordings but he wants me to add a lot more keys in it. I think I've already recorded about 12 keyboard tracks, but he's a real slave-driver! I've been working on my retaining wall and yard all day and will be tomorrow also, so it'll be a couple of days before I can record again. I'll keep you posted!

Thanks
Boy he must be a slave driver

That's my reputation, although I prefer the label "perfectionist" more ;-)

This song is going to be awesome with these extra keys. There too little keyboard in a lot of music nowadays anyway.

The thing is, I record always many layers of guitars and keyboards, so everytime you listen to a song you can hear something you didn't hear before.

So knock it off otherwise I will come over there and smack your legs.

You don't need vocal lessons!!!!
If you are having a hard time putting emotion into a song, then maybe some acting lessons?

Seriously, your voice is good. Very good. The key to putting the emotion in to the performance isn't really a voice thing, it's an acting thing. You FEEL the words of the song, and act out the story of the words.

There are good singers who interpret the composer's song well but they can't write songs, and there are songwriters who have no vocal talent - but you do not fall into that category.

You can play well, write well and sing well.

I love Jim.

Thanks, but I thought Neal said Arnel was?

I have a funny story I have to tell here... I was desperately looking for a singer 3-4 years ago to record a "Journey-like" project. I tried looking everywhere I could think of, and came up empty-handed. The guy that ran the local recording studio said "if you want someone who sounds like Steve Perry, why don't you just call him and see if he'd be interested?". I thought about it and said "Yeah...what's the worse he can say? No? Alright, I'll do it!".

So I sent Andrew an email asking if he knew how to contact him. He gave me Steve's manager's number. I got all excited like a little kid at Christmas, and finally got the nerves up to call. This woman answers the phone and after I explain who I am and what I was trying to do, she quickly goes "Does Steven even know you???" (with a very shitty tone to her voice! ). I said no, and she abruptly informs me that "Steven isn't interested in working on any "Projects" and hangs up on me!

Oh well...At least I tried. :D

Having your legs slapped was a punishment over here when we were little kids - until the PC brigade forbade parents to smack naughty kids.
It's like a quick swipe across the calves which didn't hurt too much but you were left in no doubt that you must not do it again - whatever naughty thing you just did.

I will do that to you if you ever say again that you are not a good singer.
