However, Bristol is over 18, not a child, and Letterman explained that he was NOT joking on the 14 year old and had no knowledge that she was even at the game.

The joke was made about the 18 year old (not a minor), as were countless other jokes made about Bristol - now, this is not to say whether joking about her is right or wrong - but no one said a word when Leno inferred that John Edwards knocked her up or when he also said that Palin's pregnant daughter's name was Juno... it's Palin's sudden outrage at something that's been going on since the campaign that I can't believe.

I really think Palin took this over the top, considering that she didn't open her yap once about any of the things that were said about Bristol back when. I guess it's ok to scream her head off now because no campaign is at stake.

Letterman apologized and she said it wasn't good enough and he was made to do it again... now these people want him fired over a freakin' monologue? Come on.

Like he said last night, if you have to explain the joke, it's not funny. Point was, he got his facts wrong as it was the 14 year old at the game and not the 18 year old. Either way, it was a dumb joke as most jokes on monologues are.

Whether they should be or not, the are and they always will be. This has been going of for years. I can remember (barely) Amy Carter getting made fun of. Look at how much they made jokes about Chelsea Clinton, and even the Bush girls had their share of jokes. It's what comedians do. They don't have to be politically correct, because the moment they do, then censorship will take on a whole new meaning in this country. I personally think the joke was dumb. But I also think it's his job to make jokes, no matter how tasteless some may think they are. This was not his or any other late night host or comedian's first tasteless joke, and it won't be their last. I don't want that kind of censorship that says someone like him needs to be fired for making a stupid joke. That takes politcally correctedness too far in my opinion. He made his apology, most people thought it was in poor taste. I don't see why it has to even be discussed anymore.

I thought it was in extremely poor taste even though I know he meant the 18-year-old. I've never like any jokes made about the kids of politicians or jokes about their looks. Too hurtful and mean. He apologized. But why isn't anyone complaining about this distasteful joke by Leno about her underage 17-year-old pregnant daughter and the inference she had sex with John Edwards, a 50-something-year-old man upset or why isn't he being boycotted? Why wasn't Palin all over that or now all over that, too? That is what is bothering me about this whole boycotting and wanting him fired? Why not Leno too?
