Simple answer: it wasn't.

Lula made an incorrect claim and I called her on it. Simple logic.

Beshad, as much as I like you I cannot agree.........Those kids have to go to school and deal with the backlash of that tasteless joke. It never goes away after that. It is wrong. Letterman also has a child out of wedlock..............is he fair game?

Any kid can be subject to some kind of joke, where they will be affected by it, when they go to school or hang out with their friends.
My whole point is that Letterman clearfied CLEARLY that the joke was aimed at the 18 year old ADULT daughter of Palin,,,, and nothing makes her any more special to be off limits of any jokes than any other kids in the world, your and mine included.....

and no one said Letterman's kids were off limit,,, in fact I wouldve admired Palin, had she made a comeback and made a great remark that would put Letterman in an awkward situation, but her IQ never reached the point where she could make a smart or smart ass comment,,,,,

I think she is smarter than you give her credit. When your under the gun and on tv you can make stupid statements. Poor Biden is a gaff a minute lately..  But honestly as a person, I would not go after Lettermans kids in retaliation. I cannot lower myself to that state. Two wrongs don't make a right. And no, my kids are not up for grabs, so someone else can get at me. The response would be, O.K. Big Boy you attacked a cub, now welcome to momma bear!  :D

No he should not be fired, and yes anyone Leno or Letterman should refrain from attacking people's kids. It must be a bad day for the writers when that is the best they can do.

You do have a very good point, and no they probably shouldn't do it, but they do...

However, Bristol is over 18, not a child, and Letterman explained that he was NOT joking on the 14 year old and had no knowledge that she was even at the game.

The joke was made about the 18 year old (not a minor), as were countless other jokes made about Bristol - now, this is not to say whether joking about her is right or wrong - but no one said a word when Leno inferred that John Edwards knocked her up or when he also said that Palin's pregnant daughter's name was Juno... it's Palin's sudden outrage at something that's been going on since the campaign that I can't believe.

I really think Palin took this over the top, considering that she didn't open her yap once about any of the things that were said about Bristol back when. I guess it's ok to scream her head off now because no campaign is at stake.

Letterman apologized and she said it wasn't good enough and he was made to do it again... now these people want him fired over a freakin' monologue? Come on.

Exactly what I was saying. I agree, she's carrying this so far that I suspect her motives. She didn't care about Leno and God Knows the things they were dong on STL and she went on there. When she gets up on her soapbox and carries on about the Leno joke and demand an apology also, then I will believe her ongoing outrage. But of course that won't happen, b/c one day when she's running for office and wants that free publicity time she will be on Leno. At the end of the day she's a typical politician.

I dont give her any credit cause she dont deserve one.... Deano explained clearly why Palin is even holdin the position she does right now,,,She is dumber than you think she is .... She has said so many things to prove it too.... and when its eye for an eye, its not about LOWERING yourself,, ,its about fighting fire with fire.... Letterman made a funny joke, Palin didnt act like a momma bear,, momma bears dont cry,,, they attack with all they got,,,
If Letterman should get in trouble for a joke, then we might as well censor and ban all comedy from TV....

The hype was engineered and well played by Davester. Maximum publicity without danger of losing his show. It was no gaffe.

And eye for an eye is not an expresion of revenge but of letting the punishment fit the crime.

Islam has been around since the 600's...Muhammad died in 632 AD...So 1400 some odd years, give or take

My point was , this expression/phrase/punishment ,whatever, was around before Mumammad was even born

The phrase "an eye for an eye", Hebrew: עין תחת עין, ayin tahat ayin, is a quotation from Exodus 21:23–27 in which a person who has taken the eye of another in a fight is instructed to give his own eye in compensation. At the root of the non-Biblical form of this principle is that one of the purposes of the law is to provide equitable retaliation for an offended party. It defined and restricted the extent of retaliation in the laws of the Old Testament

How many Christian's support the death penalty? I think very many do. Revenge is not just about religious doctrine. Many "christian's" are guilty of revenge on a daily basis.

That's a personal choice not a religious one. As a Catholic Christian I'm forbidden to support capital punishment whereas the Muslim terrorists espouse An Eye For An Eye as a doctrine and exercise it literally. Either way, you can't demand Palin go to Dave's level just because the high road approach she opted to take make Dave look like a horse's ass.
Beshad's posts are actually spouting sour grapes that Palin's handling of it didn't make her look bad like some angry vengeful bitch.

And how did the posts here at all reflect on anything BUT personal choice? I dont' think I remember Behshad or anyone else spouting off anything in the name of "Muslim doctrine" yet you accused him of that. Is he a muslim terrorist? He was stating personally that is how he would handle it if it was HIM personally. That's how I read it. You took it way further and I can't help but wonder why. I am a Catholic Christian too, and I don't believe in revenge. But I know MANY who do. I don't see why you brought religion into this really.

She's a Christian though and they don't typically espouse muslim doctrines like "an eye for an eye."

How many Christian's support the death penalty? I think very many do. Revenge is not just about religious doctrine. Many "christian's" are guilty of revenge on a daily basis.

Nevertheless, whatever anyone thinks about Palin and her politics, first and foremost she is a mother. She did what any mother would do. No one would go out into the woods, pick up a bear cub and start telling jokes. I don't care how funny you are, it's just not going to go over well with the momma bear.
