Thanks MBPL, it's refreshing to hear some positive feedback. But I do NOT belong in the same sentence as Ginger (pretty name, BTW :D ) She is an upright professional but I'm just a guy that does it as a hobby and has a looooooooong way to go to point out certain flaws to get to the next level. I appreciate the accolades, though.

As artist said, I'm more of the "comic strip" drawer since I grew up on comics and they were my main inspiration. It's hard for me to gather thoughs and draw on paper, I just need a guide to help me along my way.

Here's a pic I drew for my girlfriend for Christmas this year. It was a picture we took the Christmas before in '07. I put it in a nice frame for her. She loved it.

Ginger is right, we all of us are at different levels of our artistry. Although, I still contend that both you and Ginger rawk hard!

I personally would not compare my writing talent to Terry McMillan, Amy Sedaris, Toni Morrison or Maya Angelou, but I do believe I possess some writing talent. It takes a level of maturity to feel confident with your skills. Also, you have a partner who will appreciate you for your talents. Believe me, I would fall on my face if a guy I was digging drew a pix of me whether it be comic or portrait. Keep up the good work, my dear. Lorrie

MBPL you're too much. You prove yourself time and time again on why your one of the most likable people around here. Hope you stick around, your posts are top notch and uplifting. I appreciate the kind words. :D Oh BTW: I actually did a comic book for my girl when we were about a 1 1/2 years together for Valentines Day. I did all the artwork in paint and started the comic from when we first talked up to that time period. I Bought sleeves and put it together in a nice binder like a comic book fashion. It was hilarious and one of her fav things. She makes sure we look at it every time I go down. I was very happy with it and I'm one of those people who point out my own flaws in whatever I do. You guys would of loved it, but I lost the documents to it  Spent weeks on it too, haha.

Ginger, you got my PM right under the name. Feel free to PM me anything if you ever decide to get a chance. I appreciate the thought. 8)

I am a teacher, and I would love to share some pointers to help. Lord knows I miss having critiques on my work at school so someone objective could make me look at my work for things to improve. You do a good job. And no more putting yourself down! I will PM you either tonight or in the morning. I am going to send you some pages of a great book that improved my shading and portraiture. Good luck and keep drawing.......... :D

Hey, I just took some pictures of some of my artwork. I just figured I'd post some to see what you think! These are both drawings I did of my son a few years ago.

I don't know if they qualify as "Drawings" though, because I used a light table, and traced the outlines from 8x10 pictures. I tried it one day, and it turned out really cool so I actually made some money doing them for a lot of other people on the weekends. I just trace the outlines of the image, then I fill in and shade it to make it look realistic. It was fun, but was too time consuming.

Here is a traditional drawing I did a few years back also.

Thanks! I actually made my light table out of an old coffee table, and it worked pretty good... until my son broke it!  I haven't drawn anything in 3 or 4 years now. I guess I just got bored with it.

I free hand most things, but if I am commissioned to do a portrait, for accuracy I use a grid method. Light tables are not large enough to do the drawings I do. But oh, those drawings of yours are very good! You have two great talents. :D

Very nice of Ginger to help you, young man. And very admirable that you put a lot of painstaking thought into your project. And hey, I'm telling ya, a woman loves a sensitive guy! Well, not too sensitive. I mean, you said you lost the documents okay, so maybe you felt like banging your head against concrete or you cried uncontrollably like a five year-old who can't find his "blankee." Yea, see, right there waaaaaaaaay too sensitive.

Imparting of mature female wisdom coming right up.

Perhaps you might think of the loss as a bond between you two. Without the documents you can't share it with too many folks, the intimacy is only between you and her...

Back to my old wisdom less self.

...Or something.

At any rate, thank you very much for the compliments. :D Have a great evening! Lorrie, MBPL

Thanks, and I'm glad you posted this thread. I went back and looked through a bunch of my art I forgot about. I have drawings all over. My wife has some of my drawings in her office, my parents in Oregon and Maine have some, and most family members have some scattered around. It's really cool to go back years later and see something that you forgot you drew!
